Callaway Apex Hybrid Review

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 10 Jan 2019

Part of what has been a hugely exciting and innovative range for 2019, Callaway has launched its new Apex Hybrid, which is striking for introducing the brand's renowned Jailbreak Technology into a hybrid for the first time, aiming to deliver a club with the benefits of a hybrid aligned with the spin and ball flight of a long iron.

Key Features

Controlled Ball Flight and Workability From Precision Shaping

The design appeals to better players and Tour Pros, and it has been designed to transitiony from your irons. Apex 19 Hybrids provide a neutral bias for the controlled ball flight with workability that better players want to see.

Fast Ball Speed From Jailbreak Technology

Callaway has engineered Jailbreak Technology in an Apex hybrid for the first time ever. Two steel Jailbreak bars stiffen the body, placing more impact load on the face to promote fast ball speed and distance. The Forged Face Cup is made from Carpenter 455 Steel, and is designed for increased ball speed at every impact location.

Premium Craftsmanship and Components

A beautiful Apex shape with a classic dark PVD finish and premium components, including a Temper Catalyst Shaft and Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Grip.

Available Lofts: 2H (18°), 3H (20°), 4H (22°), 5H (24°). 3H and 4H are available in left hand options.

Price: £249.

PGA Professional and Golfshake Equipment Expert Ryan Rastall has been testing the new Apex Hybrid, noting that he generally prefers to play with long irons, but he was certainly impressed by this latest offering from Calllaway. "If you're a traditional player, who likes playing long irons, I would certainly consider this, have a go with it, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised, it's a great looking golf club in the playing position when you sit it down. It just fills you with confidence. It makes hitting longer shots more fun."
