Bushnell Pro 1600 Laser Range Finder

By: Darren Ramowski | Tue 14 Jul 2009

Bushnell Outdoor Products, makers of the #1 laser rangefinder on Tour, has introduced the Pro 1600 – the newest member of the company’s industry leading distance measuring devices, available in two models: Tournament Edition and the patented Slope Edition.

“Our new Pro 1600 is extremely easy to use and will appeal to every golfer who has ever wanted an accurate yardage reading to the flagstick or virtually any other object on the course,” said Bushnell Senior Product Manager Jordan Vermillion. “From a Tour standpoint, we gathered feedback from our Tour Rep Royce Nielson, former caddy for Arnold Palmer, to better understand what the world’s best players and their caddies’ desire when preparing for tournaments. We also wanted to bring to market a product that catered for the recreational golfer who is seeking precise accuracy and doesn’t want to rely on the scorecard or sprinkler heads for distance reading.”

Both Pro 1600 models work without a locating reflector device and the unit can start obtaining accurate distances to any object right out of the box, with no downloads necessary. They incorporate PinSeeker Technology, a unique selective targeting mode, allowing the player to quickly and easily acquire distance to any object on the course without the need for reflectors and without accidentally acquiring background targets.

The more sophisticated of the two rangefinders is the Pro 1600 Sope Edition, which features a built-in inclinometer to provide the golfer with a compensated distance based upon the degree of incline or decline. This means when you are aiming at an up-hill or down-hill target, the Pro 1600 with Slope +/- will adjust the yardage reading for the angle and distance to help golfers with accurate club selection.

Engineered for golfers who play competitively, the Pro 1600 Tournament Edition is legal for tournament play. Like the Slope Edition, the Pro 1600 TE is capable of ranging distances from five to 1600 yards and it is accurate within +/- one yard.

Product features include:

  • +/- 1 yard accuracy
  • Built in reflector
  • 7x magnification
  • PinSeeker mode – zeroes in on the flag
  • Scan mode
  • Ranges (5 yards minimum): Reflective surfaces 1600 yards. Trees 1000 yards. Flag 400 yards
  • 100% waterproof
  • Fully multi-coated optics for clear, bright vision
  • Patented RainGuard® HD lens coating
  • Reads distances in both yards and metres
  • Twist-up eyepiece with oversize ocular and +/- 2 diopter setting 9v battery included Carrying case
  • Tournament Edition RRP £330, Slope Edition £365

Bushnell, the number one choice of professional golfers and caddies, offers a full range of laser rangefinders, which continue to change and improve the way golfers assess distances, ultimately improving performance.

Bushnell laser rangefinders, except slope models, are legal for tournament play subject to local rule R&A/USGA 14-3.
