Connect With Your Game - Driver Takeaway

By: Golf Shake | Tue 03 Apr 2018

The myth most golfers believe is that to make the ball go further off the tee you must swing harder and must increase your club head speed. Although aspects of this might be true, it is certainly not the key for a golfer to be consistent off the tee, Andy Carter belives that consistency and maximizing your drivers distance can be simultaneously achieved by working on a few key characteristics of the driver takeaway.

One important technical issue involving the driver takeaway is making a wide and strong technique using your arms and body, by maintaining a fairly straight left arm angle, the width and arc of the entire swing is increased, creating more power and possibly more distance.

Carter believes that not only will this tend to maximise a golfer's distance off the tee, but the overall strike will be positively effected aswell, something almost every golfer looks for when hitting their driver out on the course.

Andy Carter is a Golf Coach and Teaching Professional at the European Tour Performance Institue at the Jumeriah Golf Estates in Dubai.  Andy also provides daily tuition and interactive content on his Youtube channel Improve My Golf.
