Sure-Set Training Aid Review

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 27 Jul 2016 | Comments ()

Post by Golf Journalist Josh Carr

If I were to ask you to name an important element of the golf swing, a lot of you would identify the backswing and the swing plane as fundamentally important. If you can master this move, you will be able to load and store more power at the top of your swing and ultimately gain distance and accuracy.

Whenever you go for a lesson, most instructors will talk about swing plane and show you what a correct, powerful back swing feels like but over time, that feeling goes away and you often see your swing moving away from the perfect swing plane.

Well, with the Sure-Set training aid you will master this element of the golf swing in no time. As you can probably tell from the name, the Sure-Set is designed to make the backswing move easy and trains you to ‘set’ the club in the correct loaded position with great swing width, on the right plane and with the correct angles.

It was Dan Frost, one of Europe’s leading coaches, who set out to fix this fault he sees among many amateur golfers. The training aid he produced was the Sure-Set and offers the vital blend of wrist hinge, forearm rotation and shoulder turn as you coil around a solid foundation, to produce a powerful backswing position. It also assists in learning the sequence of the downswing to allow the stored power to be maximised.

The Sure-Set is really simple to set up too. All you have to do is cock your wrists, and then adjust the length of the Sure-Set so that it relates to the length of your left arm (for a right handed golfer). This is done by extending the shaft so that the ball on the end sits comfortable in the groove between your upper left arm and chest, just below the armpit.

The Sure-Set is also flexible and can be set to different widths and lengths to fit every size of golfer, as well as the ability to adapt it to different types of swing from those who cock their wrists early or those who cock their wrists late, like Sergio Garcia.

Having made several practice swings with this training aid, I really could feel the difference and felt like my swing was immediately heading on a better swing plane. To add, as it is small and easily transportable, you can take it on the course with you during a social round and if you feel like you’re losing the feeling of a correct swing plane, you can get out your Sure-Set and make a few practice swings.

If you’re looking for a simple, easy and quick way to learn the correct swing plane that will allow you to load and store more power at the top of the swing then you should definitely purchase a Sure-Set training aid. In just a few simple steps you’ll master the perfect swing plane and find yourself striking the ball better and hopefully find some extra yardage.
