Superior Little Brother

Since its opening some 18-20 years ago, this course has always been the better of the two. The Resort Course at La Cantera gets all the favorable attention and once hosted the Texas Open, but it is the easier course and far less scenic. It often is the case that the Palmer Course has the better conditions and the greens are almost always better throughout the year. Spring is a tough time because new grass is coming in - bermuda - and the dormant remains up until the new takes over. Of the two, I would recommend the Palmer. Play both if you can and make up your own mind.

Never Better

This time of year in South Texas, a decision has already been made as to whether overseeding should be done. Thankfully, it is not the practice at Palmer. Thus, this day the greens were plenty fast, putted true and were a delight to play. They held well.

Evergreen

You can't go wrong...any time of year this course is a well manicured treat. Gteat elevations...views and challenging shots.

Very good greens for this time of year. Always are good, sometimes the best in town. Cannot beat the views. So much more interesting than the sister, resort course.

This continues to be the best course in San Antonio, with excellent course maintenance. The bar and restaurant have Jeff, a wonderful chef and this facility is underutilized.

At this moment, the Palmer course is nearly flawless. Lots of rain recently has softened the greens and made them very approachable. Because of the elevation changes throughout the course(many offering views of downtown San Antonio), the ball rolls relatively well. The course is rarely crowded during the weekdays(closed on Tuesdays for maintenance) and 3 to 3.5 hour rounds are then the norm.

Judd, Brian, Jeff and Glenn in the pro shop and Ashton in the bar really try to make your playing experience memorable. Jeff the chef in the grill is very accommodating and prepares wonderful, attractive food. This place is a gem!
