What the club says: Avington Park Golf Course is a nine hole Parkland course. The Park opened in 1995 built within the wonderful parkland setting of Avington Park. Much of The Park was planted in the late 18th Century and the mature trees now define the course. The greens were built to the USGA specification to ensure good playing conditions all year and have helped establish the reputation of the course as perhaps the best 9 Hole in Hampshire.

Good course. Not long but friendly club

Expensive, but good/
Avington park is one of the nicest 9 hole courses I have played, but it does come at a cost. 9 hole prices compare with other 18 hole prices, and when the clubhouse is essentially a garden shed and there is no driving range, I can't always justify the cost. However, they obviously spend a lot of money on course maintenance as the course and the greens are always in brilliant condition. Lots of interesting hole layout, makes for a round where you have to think. Not a course for long drivers, I found myself on a few occasions nearly driving the green on a par 4, which takes away some mid iron play. Overall, good course and will probably return.Reviewer Rating

Good practice course
Nice 9 holes easy to play in a short time about 1h per 9 holes. Course is fairly easy but if you're not on the fairway your ball is lost as the rough is big. This is the only defence the course has.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 72 Handicap: )

Lovely Parkland Setting
Opened in 1995 within the grounds of Avington Park, and with views across the River Itchen valley, this is certainly a scenic location for a 9 hole course.The holes are either par 3's or short(ish) par 4's, with most of the defense coming in the shape of very small greens and well raked bunkers (they were raking them as I played, something a lot of courses could learn from). The greens looked like they'd suffered a little in the recent heat wave, but they ran fairly quick and true. The rough can be fairly brutal if you find it too.
The clubhouse and shop are both pretty small/basic affairs, but there was a warm welcome in the shop.
At 3800 yards for 18 holes, the course is probably more suitable to higher handicap players, and lower handicap players would probably find it too easy. That said, there's lots to enjoy about playing here if you're in the area.
