Course Information
Perfectly complementing the Faldo Course, whilst taking advantage of the rich valley soil in contrast to the arid hillside, Christy O'Connor Jnr's course at Amendoeira offers no less of a challenge. Large areas of water demand accurate play and creative shot making, and these lakes and streams are to be maintained as a wildlife sanctuary.

Best Fairways in the Algarve
Played this course on 2 different occasion now and both times have had the best fairways. They lush green with a bit of spring in them, like playing off a carpet.Front 9 really challenging as water everywhere, back nine a little more forgiving.
Played in the wind the last 5 holes made it extremely hard.
Course well worth playing.

There are some awkward holes - probably easier to play the 2nd or subsequent times around, when you might have worked out the best lines to go for the greens or to lay up.
The greens were enormous - at least one of them was 52 yards deep according to my GPS. There was a sign in the Pro-shop showing stimp readings of 7.4 on the O'Connor and 9.4 on the Faldo, and sometimes this was obvious, as it left a lot of us coming up well short on putts.
The Pro-shop is shared between the courses, and everything is VERY expensive.
Fairways were in great condition, and an absolute pleasure to play from.
The biggest let down for me were the bunkers, where I had 2 lies with only a minimal amount of sand under the ball (which I didn't know until my club bounced off the clay underneath the thin layer of sand).
This course has 2 on course toilets, at 6 and 14, which I've rarely found anywhere but the States, but in fact the same could be said about Morgado, which we also played.
I would recommend the course and would be happy to play again

Nice Course
Very nice and open course with lots of interesting and testing holes throughout the 18 but with a lot of birdie chances(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 95 Handicap: 15.4)

Nice layout.
A nice course but overshadowed by the Faldo layout in my opinion. Greens were slow and uneven. An ok course.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 92 Handicap: 13.1)

A tough but beautiful golf course
Fantastic set up over at Oceanico. Everybody from the reception staff to green keepers were unbelievably friendly. A wonderful experience of how golf should be set up, with every last detail for great customer experience catered for. Not the cheapest round of golf but certainly worth experiencing. The course was in absolutely wonderful condition and the greens were superb.

Fantastic course
Very enjoyable round, less strategic than the Faldo course and a little less punishing unless significantly offline with more water and less bunkers.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 77 Handicap: 9.4)

Immaculate Condition
A very attractive course, in immaculate condition when I was there in May/18.The facilities are good, with a quality club house, excellent practice green and complementary driving range (the only negative being that, perhaps because it is free) it can be hard to find a stand).
Buggies were compulsory when we were there. I am not a huge fan of buggies, but because of the long distances between green and tee it probably makes sense.
It is a forgiving course, with wide fairways. The rough is cut at the right hight to be a penalty, but still show the ball. It is hard to lose a ball except in the water. This helps keep the pace of play reasonable. Our two rounds took 4 and 4.25 hours, which is pretty good for holiday golf in Portugal.
The greens were excellent. Reasonably quick and very true, although some in our group found them difficult to read. The course played long, with not a lot of run on lush fairways and the greens are generally well protected. The water encroaches on most holes, but generally there is an option to play safe and still get on or close to the green.
The only thing that let down the experience was the service in the bar/restaurant afterwards, where the service was slow and chaotic at times. Admittedly we were a large group with new orders coming in as each group came in, but most places seem to cope with this better.
