The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones. He finished the green complex's on all 18 holes and walked away when NYC ran out of money. The current owner has hired a well known golf architect to finish 1-2 holes a year from tee to green to RTJ's original design. The greens are amazing, well kept, and fast. The have a nice practice green and rare for a public course, a short game practice area.

Longest course in New York, straight and wide. Lots of Mozzies so take repellent.
The greens are in fantastic shape and I think the hardest greens I've ever played on, no flat lies always with a camber.
As with all public courses in New York it will be busy so be prepared to wait around at each hole.
