Excellent round and spectacular sites
PLayed the Links at Spanish Bay between atmospheric rivers hitting the west coast and despite the copious rains and winds the course was in great shape. Views while playing were spectacular.Reviewer Rating

Fairways in disappointing condition
Spanish Bay was the fourth course I played in a week in California and I'm afraid to say was in the worst condition of the four. The greens were excellent (and lethally fast) as were the other three. What was disappointing was the state of the fairways, a few were spiked and being treated I guess in preparation for the Pebble Beach busy season of September through November, but it was the others where there was a consistent lack of grass on the edges meant that you played from more mud/earth than grass. The course is mostly links, with the exceptions being nine through twelve where the four holes are played around the front of the resort away from the coast. The course is not as challenging as the top two at Pebble Beach and that is reflected in the price, however $290 for a visitor round is way overpriced even with the Pebble Beach cache and even if the course was in better condition.Reviewer Rating
