What the club says: Greenway Hall Golf Course - golf how it used to be played. A traditional Moorland Course built back in 1909 with spectacular views of the distant Peak District. Sculpted through Ancient Woodland you have to be accurate, particularly off the tee or it's a chip out sideways. Greenway Hall boasts some of the most challenging and picturesque par 3's in the county. If it's a day to get away from it all then Greenway is your choice. Voted the best golf club in Staffordshire 2002 by the Staffordshire Journal for its 'quality of greens, condition and service' it has got to be worth a visit.

Awful course ruled and members don't follow the rules
Played here yesterday purely down to the fact my friend asked me to. Was told there was 6 greens on which was very disappointed compared to some courses. The fairways were like swamps, the tee boxes were still on winters and the mats were terrible. The greens that were on had no undulating features and very small. They also had hardly any grass on and were very muddy.
I lost three balls on fairways due to plugs.
The temp greens were absolutely disgusting, placed in bogs for some reason. The shop has improved, however the course has taken a massive downturn in the last year.
To enrage me and my playing partners even further as we almost done with our marathon slog on awful temp greens, we then noticed one member putting the flags back on the actual greens. This was very surprising as one of the greens he put on was absolutely saturated and considering there was a large amount of players in his group will have no doubt done considerable damage.
When we arrived back at the clubhouse a senior member informed us it was the team captain!
Will not be returning. Awful course, will only get worse and seems to be run by a member who gets to play all 18 greens when all the other people that follow the rules and respect the course have to play 6

Shocking
By far the worst course I’ve played in Staffordshire. The greens had barely any grass on them which let’s face it this is why we pay the money to play. Lots of cross overs on fairways so wear a helmet if you do want to play here. James braid would be turning in his grave if he could see what this course has turned out like. On the up side the range isn’t bad but if you want to actually play golf go somewhere else.Reviewer Rating

First Class Hospitality
Having arrived late as M6 had been closed the Staff and Kitchen were very accommodating with our bacon bap and hot drink, the pro desk was only to pleased to facilitate adjusting our tee, very reasonably priced buggies for those of us who found a few of the hills challenging found the course in good condition played all 18 good and overall a good test which found my ability lacking at times.Reviewer Rating

We had 27 holes booked, 9 in the morning and 18 in the afternoon with lunch in between. I played the morning 9, had lunch and then went home. The course was too cramped, it looked as if they had crammed 18 holes into a space fit for 12. Most of the holes I played either crossed over or shared fairways with other holes. Some of the tee boxes were very poor with the grass too long, others had no grass and were dangerously slippery.
The greens were too slow and erratic, (possibly due to maintenance) and had been sprayed with copious amounts of iron or something which made them very green, but stunk to high heaven and dirtied everything.
A number of the holes could have been good if you weren't looking out for other golfers crossing your fairways or making sure you didn't land on groups on other holes. I have played 91 courses since starting golf 17 years ago, and I think this rates 90/91 as I can only find 1 course I liked less.
Its a real shame as they are trying so hard, the staff are friendly, the catering etc is really good. It is just too cramped. It might be fine as a maember WHEN you get used to it, but as a one-off I couldn't recommend it
