What the club says: Golf de Pals, built in a large pine forest next to the Pals beach, is a course all types of player from the least skilled to the most experienced can get excited about. Over its 50 years of history, numerous professional and amateur national and European tournaments have been played there. Most importantly, the PGA European Circuit started off at Golf de Pals in 1972 with Spain's 46th Open. The first holes are quite short; with narrow fairways, slight doglegs, very deep bunkers protecting the greens and hundred-year-old pine trees lining the edges, they require high precision play. From the 12th hole, the holes are longer and with a more continental style. The fairways get wider and the greens are more generous.

Golf at pals old course
My son and I went to play .It's a great technical course with beautiful umbrella pines pinching in on the fairways. It starts with 3 very tight drives but opens out as the round progresses.
The first difficult hole is the 7th requiring you to keep it left as the ground falls away (to my dismay).Get it right and your left with hitting over pines across the fairway to the green. The par 5s are good opportunities for birdies and approaches to the greens are longer than you think. The par 3s all have individual characters.
The only gripe I have is the standard of the hire clubs, they only had regular shafts and were old Calloway XRs.(A bit much for 42 euro.
We loved the course ,Hawtree also designed Royal Birkdale and Hillside .

Nice course, unfriendly staff
The course is nicely situated with loads of trees that provide shade during the very hot summer. Each hole has its own unique setting and is, therefore, a joy to play. But you have to stick to that, playing. After 18 holes in the sun, we wanted to sit down, have some drinks, and enjoy this course's amazing terrace. Forget that! Of all the courses we played, this is the most customer-unfriendly restaurant we have ever been to. The pillows were taken from the chairs just before 19:00, so we asked the waiter if we could have some. His answer: "No, we close at 20:00..."
There were still many people playing and also entering the terrace to relax a bit after the "hard work." Needless to say, people left disappointed and angry. I really can't understand why Golf de Pals wants its customers to bring home this experience and memory, a very bad aftertaste that will last forever.

Pine Forest gem
A super course, tough off the tee with a premium on accuracy. Very small greens but you are usually hitting in with lofted clubs if you get a good drive away.(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 87 Handicap: 7.2)
