What the club says: Constructed during the summer of 2004, Ribagolfe I was designed to be a top tournament venue of the future. Set within cork oak trees, the design makes full use of the sweeping undulations of the site, providing many spectacular holes across valleys and lakes. The course offers a testing challenge with narrow fairways emphasising precise shot-making over outright length. Add to this large bunkers and undulating greens and you have a course where a cool head and steady nerve are required.
Sitting next to its sister course, Ribagolfe II follows a similar layout and again flows through cork oak trees and undulating countryside. The course offers wider fairways than Ribagolfe I but still provides a challenge with its range of pot bunkers, streams and ponds. With several holes crossing valleys, the course provides an interesting and varied round suitable for a range of players.

Animal damage
On arrival we were informed that there was damage on a number of the fairways caused by wild boar. We were not prepared for the actual amount which, on some holes, was quite a lot around the sprinkler heads and it did not look like any attempts had been to repair it.As we were one of two groups on the course, it appears that word has got around.
I have played the course without damage and it is tough but in this condition it was not enjoyable.

Reviewed Oct 22 2016
The reception area is some distance from the first tees and the facilities at the caddy master's hut are spartan.
The course is very long and, at this time of year, we were badly bitten by mosqitoes. Fairways were in good condition but many bunkers had not been raked by previous players. Greens were excellent.
