What the club says: Oitavos Golfe lies within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It is set among pine woods and reforested dunes, in an area of great natural beauty. Being a seaside golf course, the ocean view is present all the time, although some of the more fantastic scenery come from the Sintra mountains and Cabo da Roca the Europe's most western point in Europe, seen from the 9, 10, 11 and 14 holes.
The layout has been carefully crafted by one of the greatest golf architects of our times, ex-president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Arthur Hills. Hills has maintained and preserved the unique caracteristics of the land, creating a 6.303 metre, par 71 golf course.

Overrated
It’s not very good. It mixes landscapes but what is to like about wide open fairways where you can get away with wayward drives and/or endanger other players on other holes. Nonsense back to back par3s.Conditioning good but can’t make up for a jumble of design ideas.

Really good course and lovely facilities
This is a really good course and the club house is superb. However, other reviews are right that the buggies are double the price of other courses. Also, although this is a very nice course, it wasn't as amazing as I was expecting. Maybe that is my fault for having unreasonable expectations, but based on the marketing I was expecting to play one of the great courses of my life and it didn't quite deliver. It is still a cracking course and I would be extremely happy to play it again, but it is clearly set up for pro competition, with large ares of open space next to many holes for spectators etc but this doesn't add to the character of the course the rest of the time. Don't get too excited over the PR material and you'll find this a challenging and thoroughly enjoyable course.Reviewer Rating

(Round played: Oct 2016 - Score: 90 Handicap: 14.1) Links course; good fairways and greens which though wet were true and moderately fast. The 13th and 16th are rather bland disappointing holes but the remainder are attractive and challenging. We were well looked after in the clubhouse.

first of all 70 euros for a buggy is way over the top,and be prepared for 8euro a pint after your round, right after that little moan the course is a delight to play with some great holes and tough greens, the high handicapper might struggle here but its a must play if in the area or if playing on lisbon passport.

Course is in good condition and is nice to play but doesn't yet justify the hype. Estoril and the Atlantic course are probably better. Major complaints, no chocolate in the refreshment area or cart and green keepers who wouldn't stop working as you tried to play your shots. On 1 hole a tractor drove past the tee as we were teeing off and on another a cart driving at max speed came onto the fairway just as the club was being struck. However the setting and quality of the course would mean I would still play again
