What the club says: Chantilly Vineuil:
- This beautiful course has a classic British feel to it and is one of the most exclusive and highly regarded resorts in France. Steeped in tradition and etiquette, this stunning layout has been strategically designed to ensure that players use their brains and not their brawn. Fairway placement is key so that you can have an ideal angle for your approach shot. The maintenance has improved greatly over the past few years to make the greens a real test of your putting stroke, making this a thoroughly entertaining course suited more to the lower handicappers.
Chantilly Longères:
- Known as Vineuil's sister course, this charismatic track is set in stunning surroundings and is a real joy to play. There are many difficult bunkers spread around the course that make every approach shot a challenge. This is far better suited to the higher handicappers, but the narrower fairways and testing greens still make this a superb test of French golf.

Chantilly Vineuil
I visited Chantilly in June 2023.The first impressions are very good here as you head up the private road to the course with the large range facility to your right which is also where Titleist have a fitting centre. It was notably peaceful/quiet when I walked down the path to main building and stood looking across the vast area where you could see across both courses and the large putting green.
The clubhouse itself is stunning, full of lots of interesting pieces of their golfing history/donated pieces from other prestigious venues. The one oddity was post round asking for something to eat and the only option was a 'croque monsieur' (ham and cheese toasted sandwich) delicious none the less!
There is a small pro-shop on site mainly stocked with FJ and Titleist items, but did have a nice selection of club crested pieces for a souvenir of your visit. The course guides (which I like to keep as a collectable) are pretty basic to be honest so not a necessity.
The course itself only got a 7 on the condition rating as they were recovering the greens from an unfortunate disease they had suffered with over the winter/spring period. Largely they rolled well and at good speed so no real issues there and a factor outside of their control. Otherwise it seemed to me to be a tight-ish layout most of the way round with long rough waiting to claim any wayward shots. I found the course to be particularly enjoyable because the further round you get the more demanding the shots become which is annoyingly endearing. The finish of 16/17/18 is particularly challenging with 16/17 being the more memorable of golf holes due to the visuals of the approach shot to 16th green and the fact 17 is a lengthy par 3 that plays a long way downhill.
If visiting from the UK, it is about a 2h 30min drive from Calais and the toll road was a little shy of 20 euros, a really easy drive where you are on the motorway for 95% of the time. It could well be done with a day trip or as part of a golfing trip in general. I stayed in Chantilly which is a lovely spot with the Chateau and horse racing the prominent features as well as plenty of shops/eateries.
I certainly recommend a visit and hope to go back myself!
