What the club says: Woodthorpe Hall Golf Club was formed in March 1986 as a Members' Club, playing on a proprietary pay and play golf course. The course was 9 holes with a distance of 3,944 yards. It became affiliated to the respective unions in 1986.

Over the years yardage has been increased and it is now a full 18 hole course measuring 5,140 yards off the white tees, with an SSS of 65 and a par of 67. Visitors over the age of 10 can enjoy the course by paying green fees on a daily basis, or why not join the club enabling you to play in league matches and use all the club's facilities.

good little course

Nice tight fairways not too long with some nice holes. Great course to give you some comfort tho the bunkers could do with some sand in them.

Mr p ward

First round golf for six months so woodthorpe ideal as not the longest and not the most difficult so completely fitted my situation just think all courses have got rather greedy with green fees but cant see that ever changing.

Mr

The course was ok but not great. A lot of holes on greens were slightly raised so balls veering at last few inches. Bunkers were mainly rough and not raked. Off course facilities were very good

There's more to it than you think

Its, shortish, flat, comfortable walk, but to get a great score you must hit your ball to the right spot so you can see your next, sounds simple, but thats nearly all the tee shots. Also as it dries out for summer, the run makes it a totally different course. Well worth a go.

Worth a visit.

An 18 hole course which reminded me of Turkey, having tree lined fairways. Some tricky holes with raised greens.

Make you want to give up

Woodthorpe is a very badly designed course coupled with the fact that they don't give a s*** about maintaining it, makes it a bad idea for the average golfer who would be better served by one of the local golf clubs. Wood thorpe is now a caravan park not a golf course.

Woodthorpe Hall is a suitable course for beginners or golfers who do not play too often. The greens are quite slow and not always in good condition. Similarly the bunkers are generally in poor condition with little sand in them. This can be frustrating should you end up in one. There are usually few people on the course and you can normally turn up and get straight on.
Not a great course for regular golfers but OK for part timers like myself. .

Only gave it poor in the course conditions section, eventhough the course itself is kept very nice, the conditions of the bunkers is shocking. It hasn't rained for about 5 days, yet the bunkers were just solid sand. Stood in one and I couldn't tell I had been in it at all. Trying to play a shot out of one was impossible. Played on this course quite a few times and people see your catching them, just me in a buggy, three people walking just carry on and don't let you through, this has happened to me on here loads of times.

Nice little course

Interesting little course, not long but makes you think. Well maintained, greens had just been seeded so weren't perfect, but you can't have it well maintained without some off days. Will definitely come back, serves our purposes well.
