Championship course

My first time playing this course and I was looking forward it.
Staff were friendly when I arrived and it the weather was great.
Most of the tee boxes were very patchy and covered in sand, one of the tee boxes was covered in geese bum droppings and was also wet and very soft.
It looked like the greens had been spiked and rolled that morning but not well enough because there was patches on all greens where they hadn’t rolled over the spike holes properly.
There wasn’t any ball cleaners at all throughout the course and where both courses meet each other I asked another player and there wasn’t any on the pine valley course either.
Speed of play was good until a member decided to start on the 12th hole and teed off while I was still on the way to my ball on the fairway, I did wait until he got to his ball and had a few words with him with which he replied I can do whatever I want because I’m a member here and my wife is too.
I couldn’t be bothered so I let them play through.
The course was in decent condition apart from the few things I’ve mentioned but I wouldn’t go back and play again until these things are sorted and members have respect for all players as this is public course not just for members, I was actually looking the night before at signing up there to be a member but after that very avoidable situation there isn’t a chance.

Played Pine valley, in poor condition, probably because of the rain over the recent months, fairways AND greens featuring long grass! Wouldn't play again at the moment.

Course very dry so tees very dusty, greens quite long. Long walk from greens to some of the next tees.

Peaceful setting worth visiting

Easy to find with plenty of parking
Nice club house and pro shop with pleasant helpful staff, outside terrace to have a drink before or after your round
Course was in good condition with all the bad weather we've had, greens a little fluffy but given the previous comment that would be expected.
Great course for plotting your way around with plenty of traps both sand and water

Great beginners course

Well maintained course even in the early Spring. There are features that make the course interesting but they can be bypassed quite easily and even if you are unfortunate to hit any of them, they are relatively easy to recover from

Great in November 2022

Not many courses can deliver decent golf in autumn, wet weather but WVGC did that for us yesterday. Tee off was from good quality mats - the kind you can actually get a tee into - and the greens and approaches were really well protected with roping. Greens were very bobbly after hallow tining but for ?20 on this lovely course, we tolerated that. Pace of play was good and a group of members let us through on the third hole which was very much appreciated. Reminds me of how good this course must be in summer if it can be that good in winter!

excecptional course without the extortionate price

Played here today (1st time in a few years). Have never been disappointed and the same again today. Excellent all round condition . One of the finest last holes that you can play.Superb golf course without the ridiculous prices that some charge ( and you know who you are!!!). willow valley has everything a golfer requires... choice of 3 courses, pro shop, practice facilities and most important a very nice clubhouse. Only downside that it is'nt nearer to Barnsley but still worth the hour drive (due to traffic) to get there.
Big thank you to all concerned .
Cannot recommend this course enough
