What the club says: Wetherby Golf Club is a picturesque 18-hole parkland course in the village of Linton, close to the market town of Wetherby. It is set on an escarpment and bordered by the river Wharfe which provides stunning views on six of the holes. Founded in 1910 the course was redesigned in 1919 by the legendary course architect Dr Alister McKenzie. Renowned for its manicured fairways it offers a challenging but fair test of golf. From the tiger tees the recently improved course measures almost 6700 yards. However there are now 5 tee options offering a course to suit all requirements. We also boast the added benefit of two loops of 9 holes.

Great course worth playing
First time playing Wetherby. First impressions superb, nice looking clubhouse overlooking stunning 1st hole. Friendly welcome in clubhouse & pro shop. Nice breakfast. Good practice facilities. Course generally in great condition although a couple of the greens were a little patchy. Some lovely looking holes like the 1st & 18th. Easy walk around mostly on the flat. Enjoyed the round here and will certainly be back for sure.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful tree lined course
Wetherby GC is a beautiful, majestically tree lined course from start to finish with a really good balance of par 3s, 4s and 5s. Located on flat floodplain alongside the River Wharfe it is not as physically demanding as some but requires solid golf to find fairways and greens. The varied greens which were in superb condition today are really well built and need to be studied carefully for line and speed.Reviewer Rating

Not what you expect
played wetherby in august , from the drive in i thought the 1st and 18th looked spectacular, however the rest of the course is very flat and a little boring , the new 17th is ok IMO the 18th is excellent but the greens weren’t right and we’re a lot slower than the rest of the course , excellent bar and outside seating area , friendly welcome and good food , overall an ok course and some decent holes , worth playing if you live local but wouldn’t rush backReviewer Rating

Not really very exciting and I found a few holes questionable in their design, maybe because we were off yellows and didn't see it from the back tees. Greens were slow, but true. The two new holes are the outstanding feature. The clubhouse was lively, with lots enjoying food. Although, having been in there no more than 12 seconds I was asked to remove my cap. I was about to, but clearly not quick enough for that member. Not the welcome I wanted, and won't be back. Plenty of better strips / clubs in the area.Reviewer Rating

Slow greens but nice layout
Very slow greens but told that possible drought on way so left them long!!! Some great holes but a few mediocre ones. Great 9th and 18th with ditches to get over from @ 100yds...both par 5's.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 88 Handicap: 16.5)

Improvement
Always has been a good course and the remodelled final 2 holes make it even better. Always good to finish with a par 5 and the new par 3 over water looks great and is harder than it looks.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: 19.5)

A great test for all golfers
Wetherby golf course appears fairly timid from the scorecard although it’s beauty strikes you as you work your way around the course. As timid as you might expect the course to be, let me warn you that the course has teeth. A strategic approach is needed as if out of position at any point your scorecard can soon rack up a 6,7 or 8! A numerous number of inviting fairways from the tee (2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 15 & 16 based on current layout) soon narrows at landing points to make the tee shot far more difficult than expected and greens are well guarded by excellent bunker positioning. Whilst you won’t lose many balls around Wetherby, you must be straight in order to play to your handicap around here. The greens are fast and true (following a welcome good spell of weather) and once 17 & 18 are open in June 2018, this course will become one of the best courses in the area once more. The condition of the course is currently fantastic so if the opportunity arises, I would highly recommend you give the course a try.Reviewer Rating
