What the club says: The parkland course is sited on the world's first nature reserve. Charles Waterton a pioneering Victorian naturalist created the nature reserve in 1820 and he dedicated his life to preserving the local wildlife in this area, and today we still share the park with all manner of wildlife. The golf course was designed by Simon Gidman and opened in 1995.
The design cleverly exploits the 200 acres available, creating a spaciousness not found in many courses set in smaller areas. The par 72 course has been built to extremely high standards with USGA specification greens and tree-lined fairways. The club prides itself on the condition of the course especially its fairways and greens, the greens are in play all year round.

Played here Friday, have'nt played it for few years ,but managed to get a good deal. Wasn't disappointed, still on of the best courses in this area. Course in excellent condition from tee boxes, fairways, bunkers greens etc. Very well maintained throughout, so a big thumbs up and high praise to all the maintenance staff concerned for its high standard!!. Very challenging course, not boring and very long. Would highly recommend, and hopefully play it in the near future ( if the price is right)Reviewer Rating

Superb course with stunning views
Played today and the course was in great condition despite such a wet start to the year. The greens were great and the layout is second to none with some challenging holes, which provides a good test for all. The views around the lake are spectacular. Very good practice facilities and halfway house, which is open every day.Reviewer Rating

Society visit
I played the course with my society in late April. When we arrived we were told that we would have to play under Winter rules which was that we wasn't allowed to play our ball from the fairways unless we used a rubber mat they had given us. (which was small and difficult to play off) and to compound things the greens weren't very good either. Overall It was a great disappointment as we were all looking forward to playing the course. Had the golf club informed us that the winter rules were still in place it wouldn't have been a problem, we would have simply cancelled and booked at a later date when the winter rules were off.We have been coming to this course for a few years now but I doubt if we will be coming back which is a shame because it can be a nice course under the right conditions .

Awesome
The course is in fantastic condition from tee box to green, and meanders through woods with great views, there is some walking between holes but it doesn't distract from your round. There are some long par 4?s but overall it's a great test of golfReviewer Rating

Great course, good value!
Played here following a friend's recommendation and will be sure to thank him via SMS shortly. We paid £30 each for a lunchtime tee-time and found a great and challenging course in excellent condition. The track is built in rolling countryside and gave us a decent workout (thank goodness for electric trollies!).
Would recommend a visit to anybody.
