What the club says: From start to finish, our course offers challenges, chances and risks for golfers of all abilities. At 6005 yards in total the course is not too demanding for the more sage golfers or the shorter hitters but rewards both the cautious and adventurous ball strikers alike. See the course guide and heed the pro’s tips to help you plot your way around. Remember at Barnsley golf course, getting to the greens is one thing but …..How well are you putting? Barnsley is home to some of the trickiest and undulating putting surfaces in Yorkshire and also boasts one of the toughest finishes too, concentration is needed right until the very end, only when you sink your final putt on the 18th green can you relax and head towards the 19th.

A well maintained and laid out course in good condition. Quite generous fairways some out of bounds with only one par 5 on white tees. The greens are a feature of this course and are the most difficult I have played. Access to the pin is critical as a two foot put from the wrong side could end up 10 feet away or even off the green. Clubhouse facilities are fairly basic but you will get a warm welcome from all.Reviewer Rating

Staff very friendly on arrival and tee time was as requested. Tee?s throughout the course very good along with fairways however, numerous temporary greens in use including a few which reduced the hole length significantly. Appreciate the weather hasn't helped maintenance but at ?22 charged for the round a reduced rate should be in place when 4-5 temp greens in place reducing the standard of the hole.

Next possible Barnsley housing estate??
Always enjoyed playing Barnsley ( the Limes). But not this time. Greens have always been the best around....but not now. They are like a patchwork quilt !!! Absolutely shocking!! 2 of the greens on winter ones....in the middle of May????. Understand weather hasn't been the best but surely no excuse for not trimming the edge of bunkers???. Loose grass cuttings everywhere over the course,tees v.poor, far too much heavy rough. Generally in an all round poor condition. Course maintenance is shocking. Don't know if it's a plan to run it down purposely to make way for another housing estate?. £22 is drastically overpriced for the state of the course. hopefully it can be turned around to take it back to its prime....but not holding my breath!!!!Reviewer Rating

Very Wet

Real challenge
A real challenge for all levels of golfers.Course was in excellent condition with fairly generous fairways but surrounded by trees and plenty of out of bounds. The greens were superb and quite undulated and it was very important to try and stay below the hole as a two foot put could end up 12 feet away if missed. A decent club house with bar and food and a warm welcome from all.

Poor
Not told about a comp in play ended up waiting 25 mins on every tee walked off after 11th hole. The course poor leaves all over temp greens bunkers full of branches from the trees. Course needs a lot more care and I won't be playing here anytime soon.Reviewer Rating

Probably the best municipal I have played!
As always course in great nick and the greens apart from the fifteenth ( which is very slow) are sound!! My only small compliant would be some o the tees are uneven and it is difficult to get a level stanceReviewer Rating
