What the club says: Originally designed by Tom Morris, Wallasey is a worthy test of golf, which is due in part to the prevailing north westerly winds and variety of holes made all the more interesting by the natural undulations of the terrain. In 1914, Dr. Frank Stableford became a member and on the 2nd tee stands a plaque erected to commemorate the place where he devised the point scoring system that bears his name.

Fantastic Wallasey

Played Wallasey 2 weeks ago. Wonderfully presented and a credit to the green staff. The walkways from green to tee are the best I’ve ever come across. Fairways and greens were top notch. Definitely need to club up on the shorter par 4s with elevated greens. Can’t think of a better conditioned course that I’ve played. Absolute treat.

All fur coat …….

An “insta” course , looks nice at distance but greens mottled with pitch marks & grass worn away in places , tees & fairways battered, noisy too, close proximity to busy road. Not £250 worth

Wallasey in early March

Course and greens especially in an amazing condition considering how much rain we have had this Winter. You can really see the changes to pathways and run off areas have bedded in and look fantastic. PS the flagsticks and tee markers are a very classy touch.

Played here twice now as a guest and I absolutely love the Wirral peninsula and it certainly has a strong links set up with the wind coming in off the estuary

Fabulous

The first Stableford competition was played here on 16 May 1932; Dr Frank Stableford was a club member (hcap +1) and fed up with being unable to reach the greens in regulation on the par 4s in more than a light breeze. It's a tough course in an onshore breeze.
Always immaculately presented, grass pathways from greens to tees, stunning views, Wallasey is a must play course. And the clubhouse hospitality is pretty good too!

Wallasey Golf Club amazing changes

It's been 2 years since I last played this layout, some amazing changes, new bunkers and walkways between holes are brilliant, nice touch with the extra signs and new tee markers and metal bottoms to the holes to make holing a putt even more aesthetic. I can see why it's entered the Top 100 this year.

Mr

Stunning! I played here about 5 years ago and the course was an average links. The course now is up there with the likes of birkdale. The changes John and the course staff have made to the course is amazing! Immaculate from tee to green! Best greens I’ve ever played on, and it’s February!!! The views are stunning over the Mersey! A proper challenge. The course is so much better than any other links in the area! It’s a must to play. I genuinely cannot recommend this course highly enough!

The price was very reasonable and a day ticket allowed two rounds which was great. The overall quality of the course was outstanding and the pro-shop staff was very welcoming. This was the best presented of all the courses I have played, with fairways and greens in excellent condition. The pathways from green to the next tee were all laid to grass.
