What the club says: Turnhouse Golf Club is situated in the west of Edinburgh near Edinburgh airport.
The course is a par 69 of 6060 yards with two par 5s and a variety of short holes ranging from 107 yards to 248 yards in length. It is a fair, yet challenging, test for golfers of all standards with opportunities for birdies. The greens are generally large, but subtle slopes make putting a test of one’s abilities.

From it's vantage point at the top of Lennie Hill, Turnhouse Golf Course offers stunning 360 degree views and on a clear day you can see the mountains of the Scottish Highlands to the North, the River Forth and Edinburgh to the East and the Pentland Hills to the South.

The practice facilities are amongst the best in the area. The practice ground itself was transformed into a range last year with players able to hit balls without the need to pick them up. Mats have been installed for winter play on the range, but players are able to hit off grass during the summer months, a feature which is not commonly available with other public or private ranges locally. In addition there is a short game area with a pitching green, practice bunkers and two putting greens maintained to the same standard as the greens on the course.

Check In At Turnhouse

Located just a short hop from Edinburgh Airport, Turnhouse Golf Club is well worth adding to your itinerary if visiting the Scottish capital. The small but well-equipped clubhouse has a fine food selection, while the men's locker room - complete with showers - offers a refreshing option after 18 holes on the undulating course.

The layout offers a wide variety of challenges - par fours that are reachable in one, while others that play like a par five - with many of the holes played blind. The parkland course offers wonderful views of the Forth as well as the Kingdom of Fife, while the planes landing and taking off at the nearby airport add to the character of the venue. Oh and if you have an electric trolley, make sure the battery is well charged as the hills will tax the older player...

Wet

A very wet day and the course held up well despite the time of year. Some challengeing holes and some very nice looking ones too.

Greens were in excellent condition. Par threes are of varied length and nicely spaced out over the 18 holes. A little too many blind shots have to be hit but there are markers which certainly helped. Good positioning is rewarded and poor shots are punished. Friendly bar staff and great soup! Every club in the bag was needed and it suits all ability of golfers. Excellent practice facilities with two greens, 300+ yard driving range and two greens to chip to with multiple flags and a choice of bunkers.
