What the club says: Tiverton is considered by many to be among the best 18-hole parkland courses in the region, with spectacular views. It's a challenge for those with high or low handicaps, with a wide variety of trees lining the fairways complementing the natural hazards. The course measures 6,346 yards from the competition tees with a par of 71, while the ladies' course is 5,774 yards with a par of 74.

Tiverton Golf Club was established in 1932 thanks to the generosity of Sir John Amory, who donated the land for the benefit of the people of Tiverton. His wife, Lady Amory (Joyce Wethered), who was widely regarded as one of the world's finest golfers, contributed to the present layout of the course. It was originally designed by five-times Open Champion James Braid, recognised as one of the best golf course designers of all time with more than 200 to his name, including Gleneagles.

Perfect day for golf - not too hot and very little wind.
Disappointed that still lots of cut grass not picked up.
A few of us had problems with the bunkers, the sand was very fine and hard to get out in one.

West Country delight

An enjoyable, parkland style course that requires accuracy from the tees and a keen eye on the greens. The third hole will test anyone?s composure! The fairway, from tee to plateau green, has a 45 degree L-R camber. Driving to such a fairway could leave mental scars!

Excellent condition despite bad weather

I've recently joined Tiverton and am very pleased to see the condition the course is in despite the recent spell of particularly wet weather. Also so course improvement going on which will make for some interesting new holes.
Due to covid, not much to comment on in terms of hospitality.

Very well maintained, lots of trees to get around, fairways seem wide enough to keep ball on but the trees will draw you in, first 3 holes are very tough! Members weren't overly friendly and didn't seem to like that non members were allowed to play too

Has its plus points

The course itself looks lovely and the views off the 4th tee and green are amazing. The greens ran true but compared to other courses I have played in the south west, the greens are very slow, especially after the lack of rain in the past week or two.

In terms of the layout I found it a bit confusing however credit must go to the staff in the pro shop for making sure we knew where the third tee was given the walk past the 6th tee. I also think that the 10th hole and the 18th hole could easily be switched around so you are playing towards the club house.

Overall though it is a good course with it's challenges and definitely favours the golfer who hits their ball left to right.

Off the course the practice pitching area is a nice touch but be aware of tee shots from the 10th. The practice nets are also in a very good condition and provides ample space to warm up.

I booked this course at the last minute and we took advantage of the £20.00 twilight fee. I couldn't believe how quiet the course was and we were able to stroll onto the 1st tee without seeing a soul. This obviously helped us to have a very relaxing game of golf. The 1st 9 holes are very good, and the first 3 are particularly tricky. I found the course to be beautifully maintained. The greens were true if a little slow ( recent rain ) and in tip top condition. There are several dog leg type holes and the fairways are quite narrow in some places. The rough was well tended and neither of us lost a ball....!!

So I would highly recommend this course. T
