What the club says: The course was designed by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, both of whom were behind The Belfry. Measuring 7,086 yards with a par of 73 from the back tees, Thorpe Wood was recently voted the best pay and play course in the country. Suitable for golfers of all abilities the course is renowned for its excellent greens and is always in fine condition.

Rated the 9th best course in England
Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas design course. Rated the 9th best course in England Is a mature tree line parkland municipal course which had an easy walk with undulating & some tight fairways.Greens were good & ran pretty true. Fairways were in good condition. But if you run off the fairways into the 1st cut or under the trees it is very easy to lose a ball.
Some bunker had wooden steps going down. There was several long par 4. So if you’re a short hitter like me you will struggle to get there in 2.
Practise chipping/ putting green. Driving range. Ball waters
Also has a great pro shop with a huge selection of equipment and clothing.
Overall a very good course will definitely play again and worth a visit

Nice course
Lovely tight course, quite forgiving but was a bit wet and muddy however. Nothing to take away from the course though, really nice and friendly.Reviewer Rating

a good challenging course with open fairways. run closed to river nene so has good views. another well maintained course and good value.

Small Society
Nine man society played course on 21/5/24. Definitely good value for money, greens in good condition but quite slow (took some time to get used to them!), fairways generally good. The first cut rough was not good though as grass cuttings left meaning easy to lose a ball when only just off fairways. Layout is enjoyable.Reviewer Rating

Simply a beautiful course to play
Simply a beautiful course to play and visit. The course for the conditions was in very good condition with the one exception hole but didn't distract from a great day. Fantastic greens, great tees and 17 fairways in tip top condition. Friendly staff, well stocked shop and a decent clubhouse serving lovely food. The only criticism is they haven't moved on from covid and still only card payment only. Not suitable for all and not for me, shame.Reviewer Rating
