What the club says: The course is truly unique, with 9 of the fairways being narrowly sculptured out of the ancient forest, pleasantly contrasting with 9 wider and winding fairways. Subtly borrowed greens are guarded by strategically placed bunkers, all of which make this par 68 course a real challenge for all standards of player.

Still enough bare patches off & sometimes on the fairway as remnants from the wet winter. Pin positions all placed in the corners often just 6 feet in. And the greens are often tricky anyway. Another course to revisit in high summer. Kitchen closed at 3. A curious car park with a sign saying no entry at the entrance & upon trying to leave a sign saying no exit.

Short but tight in reasonable condition
Short course, mainly woodland so tight. A fair number of dog-legs. Course condition reasonable but patchy grass in run-ups to greens. Greens themselves okay, true if a little slow. Came up against a slow members competition at end of round.Reviewer Rating

Enjoyed getting back here to enjoy summer conditions. The odd bare patch away from the fairways are the only signs & course playing well. Really find it challenging despite only 1 par 5 with lots of doglegs, trees, fairways cambers, making it rare to get a chance to hit a green 2nd shot - which is great. The bunkers could do with more or better sand but a great Braid course.

Despite the awful weather the course played really well, greens in exceptional condition for ?20 a round great value will definitely be back to play again in the summer. Picturesque in cut into Epping Forest

The course is short but tight (in places) with only 1 par 5 which suited me.
More of a thinkers course where you have to plot your way around the course rather than ripping a drive down the middle which is nice.
The course was in very good condition for the time of year, only a couple of temporary tee boxes and one temporary green. A few of the greens were waterlogged especially towards the back few holes but this didn't ruin our round.
The communication I had with the club from start to finish was 10 out of 10, extremely friendly staff and nothing was too much hassle.
The breakfast was nice and the staff were very friendly on the day and looked after our party extremely well (the chocolate cake at the end of the round was also lovely)

Such an Enjoyable Thinking Cours
It's not long - only 1 par 5 - but a variety of holes & challenges with narrow lines through trees or well placed shots for doglegs. Superb value.Reviewer Rating

Greens were a little confusing first few holes (but mostly due to onslaught of rain at first tee). Don't hit your drives long unless you can shape 'em and keep them on the fairway, otherwise you're always stuck or needing to drop one.
