What the club says: The Roxburghe is an exceptional parkland layout situated on the banks of the River Teviot and surrounded by natural woodland. The estate was formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe and he was determined to make this course a few notches above the rest. So, he commissioned Dave Thomas of Belfry fame to make the most of a landscape ideally suited for the purpose. The result of Thomas' design is inspiring with numerous mammoth sized bunkers, wide and rolling fairways and strategically placed water features. At 7,111 yards, it's a challenging course although with the fairways generally on the wide side, it is also most suitable for the amateur golfer. In 2002 Roxburghe entered Golf World's top 100 in the British Isles; it is one of the few championship courses in the Scottish Borders. An immediate hit with pro golfers such as Colin Montgomerie, the course record is held by Sergio Garcia with a 6 under par 66.

A long walk between holes at times but some cracking holes. It's quite open but greens guarded with big bunkers. A challenging course but really enjoyable.
I would recommend playing it.

Hard slog
Very long course, some very picturesque holes, difficult course however has wide fairways. The last four holes spoil the course due to their extremely up/downhill nature

A very tough course
A very tough course again made harder by persistent rain. The clubhouse whilst small at the moment was very welcoming, a little pricey but very nice. The course itself was set out nicely with large receptive greens but far too many blind shots. The course played very long and I found I had to add clubs to reach areas I thought was accessible. Another potentially great day ruined by the weather so will need to return.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic condition
I like courses that you can only see the hole you are playing from the tee. This happens on 14 holes. The view from the 14 th tee is amazing. The whole course in fantastic conditionReviewer Rating

The Crown Jewels of Borders Courses
I've been playing here for years but due to lock down hadn't played since lockdown - first game back and I remember why I love the course so much - it's fair open but still a good test - green we're very good with a true roll as always - fairways surrounds and approaches all immaculate as you?d expect after a good rest - a few bunkers on the back nice are under refurbishment but that's being a bit picky to be honest . Always a joy to play hereReviewer Rating

The premier golf location in the Borders
We visited the club on the 28th of December on a dry day, mild temperatures but a gusty wind. The course was in superb condition all the way round - despite all the rain there has been, we saw no standing water: the tees and greens were presented in excellent condition - firm and consistent - and there was no need for "winter" or temporary arrangements. It was a real pleasure, you can see by the way the course has been laid out, and by the size of some of the bunkers, that this is a real test of golf. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day, and had the course mostly to ourselves by teeing off at 12 noon, giving ourselves three and a half hours to sunset, and finishing in good time with fifteen minutes to spare!!Reviewer Rating
