What the club says: Sandiway is frequently describe as the Wentworth of the north, and would not look out of place in the commuter belt of a leafy Surrey suburb.
Sandiway is widely regarded as one of the finest golf clubs and one of the highest quality inland golf courses in the north-west, with ambitions of increasing its status within the golfing world. Over the years Sandiway has been singled out to host International, National, Regional and Local Championships including qualifying events for the Open Championship, the Girls' British Open Championship, the PGA Club Professionals' Championship and a number of Cheshire and Northern County Championships. More recently in 2017 it hosted the qualifiers for the England Golf North section, Brabazon Trophy and PGA Lombard Trophy, confirming its standing and reputation within the top 100 courses in England.
Its fairways are generous, but tree-lined with mature oak, beech and birch; the classic inland course trees predominate, and the picturesque back nine offers unrivaled views of Petty Pool, an old Cheshire mere, which forms a stunning backcloth, particularly on the eleventh and twelfth holes, and a varied mixture of holes with no two holes the same! The greens, although small by modern standards, are of the quality expected on a championship course. Visitors, as a fourball, or indeed as a party in the form of a golf society or a corporate business group are always welcome. The course is complemented by a comfortable traditional clubhouse with modern facilities and a wide range of catering options prepared by our two outstanding chefs, including dining for up to 80. The club has a covered driving range with pitching and chipping greens, large putting green and a fully stocked professional shop boasting two award winning PGA Professionals.
The Sandiway experience offers you a unique opportunity to enjoy a rural slice (no pun intended) of Cheshire and a memory that will have you returning time after time.

Sandiway Heswall Exchange
Our club , Heswall , on The Wirral had the pleasure to play Sandiway last Saturday as part of an inter club exchange. On arrival the clubhouse staff and pro in the pro shop were welcoming , chatty and really helpful. Onto the course, in a word "brilliant" a fantast mix of parkland holes, with undulating fairways and greens that would challenge anyone, fair but also tricky with a great variety of contours breaks and borrows. When you stood back and took time to look around you realised the backdrop for the whole course was beautiful , trees and lakes surrounded by fields. I felt the course was totally fair , every hole gave you a chance , but also was quick to punish if you played a wayward shot.Back to the clubhouse to eat and the food was wonderful , again the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I hope that the Sandiway players had half as good a time as we had at their course, it was a pleasure to play there and I'd go back in a flash.

Fantastic course
First time playing Sandiway, lovely warm and friendly welcome from all staff we came across. Course setup look superb, cracking practice facilities for putting, chipping, driving and iron play.We have some breakfast with the Pro (Matt Nixon) before warming up and then used the practice area's to warm up before teeing off with the Matt.
Tees boxes are wide and flat, Fairways are nicely defined and some lush grass on them (maybe a touch long in places), Rough is as expected, but playable with care, Long Rough is hard, but its not 'ball lost' long rough (you have chance of finding it), Bunker definition is superb (touch more sand needed in some of them though) and Greens are lovely and firm, with superb roll out and fantastic hidden undulations too; and the golf with Matt was a great experience and insight too.
Only downside, was the pace of play due to slow society out an hour before us and by the 5th hole we had caught them up and remaining holes were slow.

Class. Best Parkland Course In NW
Bit of rain at home so took my soft spikes rather than summer shoes. Needn't have bothered. Course was dry and playing really well. Greens were exceptional but my putting was shocking, I think I was scared of the pace this early in the year. Had to take my medicine a few times following an errant tee shot or two but that is the mark of a good course. No mistakes go unpunished but not unfairly it should be said. Great course and for me best parkland course in the North West. Great mix of par 3's, and 4's and the shorter par 5 looks gettable in two on paper but it is uphill and tight so it plays above it's yardage. Challenging but fair with good shots rewarded and bad shots penalised. £25 as a members guest also represents great value. Food was really nice too.Reviewer Rating

The changes to the course have enhanced the heathland experience and provide a splendid test of golf in the most picturesque of settings.
To be there in spring with the (thousands of) daffodils in full bloom is a lifetime experience.

Quality, even in autumnal conditions
Played on a Tuesday morning with a member, due to wet weather we were able to get out early 8:45-ish and were round as a three ball in under 3 and a half hours fairways were amazingly dry for the recent weather and greens were receptive though still quick and very true. Had looked forward to playing Sandiway for many years and was pleased that it met my expectations, now looking forward to a summer round.Reviewer Rating

Lovely Course
Never disappoints. Lovely fairways and a real challenge. Couple of boring par 3s that I ironically struggle the most on as they are between Gap / PW but otherwise excellent.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 85 Handicap: 10.6)

Best inland course of North West?
Sandiway is an outstanding course. Every hole is different and very memorable. When you play for the first time, its the sort of place you’ll be able to recall every hole afterwards. It is a massive property - seems to meander through dense woodland for miles. By the time you are at the 14th Tee, you’re a long way from civilisation! The contour, shaping and elevation changes are stunning. Course is always immaculately presented. It drains like a links course and is hardly ever shut. In my opinion, this is the pick of the lot for inland North West courses.Reviewer Rating

Played today in a 4 man team competition. Great value for £40 a man as the course was in excellent condition. We had a bacon sandwich on arrival and an excellent 2 course meal afterwards, the service was Superb. I will definitely be returning and can highly recommend this as a must play course.Reviewer Rating

ecovering From Hard Summer
A nice course but I am not sure it should be in the Top 100 (100th I think on Golf Monthly).Still recovering from summer so a lot of bare and uneven patches and unsure on some holes where the fairway started / finished. Hard to get a decent strike when the ball is sat on a sandy and damp bare patch. I have played here before and it has not been in such mediocre condition in parts. Greens were excellent though to be fair.
In terms of layout there are two holes that let the course down. The 6th and 13th that were playing 135 and 115 today and seem to be fillers. If they could improve these two holes I believe the course would be a lot better for it. Some really good holes though and the first is as good as an opening hole as you will find in the area. I will definitely be back though to see if some water over the autumn rejuvenates the fairways. Only other thing lacking was that we arrived at 9 for a 10 tee off and had to go to a local takeaway cafe for a sandwich and coffee as the clubhouse wasn't open.
