Great Course!

Great course, a very enjoyable round, superb fairways, greens and bunkers. Love the layout, a proper traditional golf course. You need your @A@ game to play as greens were fast and undulating, and you don't want to miss the fairways.

Challenging but fair course with views of Belfast Lough. Some stand-out holes. Lots of bunkers. Fast greens.

A club that originated in 1881. Tucked away down a quiet road off the main Belfast to Bangor road, the winding drive takes you through the course on the way in - giving you a good idea of what awaits. There are some fantastic views over Belfast Lough and beyond and the course flows nicely around the hillsides with some lovely shape to a number of the holes.
The course was suffering a fair bit from a heavy day's rain the previous week when we played it (October), with the fairways pretty squelchy and lots of bunkers with significant amounts of water in them.
You expect a bit of damp ground this time of year but I was surprised at how poorly the course had taken the rain. However, we still really enjoyed the round (don't expect too much run on the ball in this country!) and the greens were in excellent condition despite the rain - and were surprisingly quick given how wet the rest of the course was.
Got a winter rate of £35, and we all felt it was pretty good value. Would go back again, but only when the weather had been a bit drier beforehand.
