What the club says: The present tree-lined parkland course, constructed in 1970 and officially opened on 29th September 1973, was the design of Architect Commander John D. Harris in the estate of the late Lord Blythswood. Fine specimens of Lime, Chestnut, Beech, Birch, Oak, Sycamore in all 29 different species of trees have been identified. The 12th hole has a particularly vibrant display of Rhododendrons for part of the season.
Since 1973, the 6808 yard course with a SSS of 73 off the Championship Tees has hosted many major tournaments: Scottish Amateur Championship 1984 and 1994, The European Boys Team Championship 1988, The Sunderland of Scotland Masters and in 2000-2004 Scottish Regional Qualifier for The Open.

Should have been better
Typical park land course with a few parallel holes. Unfortunately the conditions in some of the bunkers is poor. I get you should not be in them, but you would like some decent sand to give you a chance to get out.Reviewer Rating

Good course, slow play from members
This would be rated excellent if it wasn't for slow play by some members, 2 4 balls that teed off more than an hour before us held up the full course, we were on every tee from the fifth hole, the two two balls that were ahead of us and the four balls walked off at the 9th and 10th, at 11 one group was still on the tee when we got there. Asked what the chances of playing through were and got told to know our place and they were members so could take aslong as they wanted. The course itself was great despite all the recent rain, wet in places, greens good but you really need to be straight off the tee or your in the trees

Major improvement
My local course but have never thought about a membership due to its inability to cope with the wet. Have now played twice since early April and the course is looking incredible. Looks like their has been a concerted effort to look after the course and it seems to be paying off big time.Hopefully this continues over the season.
Challenging course, could be a bit long for some.. But some cracking holes, great clubhouse and friendly members.

2018 looking good
My home course and for those of you looking for a quality layout, flat and coming along nicely as the weather heats up, I can recommend it. Green keeping team have a new lease of life and are working well. Organised and along with greens committee have a planned schedule going forward. New caterer in place offering home baking and home made food stuffs. So far so good. Come along and enjoy.Reviewer Rating

The course has so much potential but is let down by its general condition. I have played it a few times through the year as I live locally, areas marked GUR have been that way since April and still remain in need of repair. I hope that the club can get things sorted as it could be one of the best in the area if properly looked after. The bunkers need some serious treatment and the general surroundings of the course have been left to grow and appear shabby. The greens on their day are outstanding, generally a Wednesday for the midweek medal (I'd imagine they'd be the same for a Saturday Medal), but any other day it's a hit or a miss. Catering and the bar were on limited hours which is not ideal. Doubt I'll play again until next year and will need to improve drastically if I'm to return afterwards.

A decent course but could have been better cared for. A combination of uncut rough and early autumn leaves meant losing balls that shouldn't have been lost.
Most part 4s dog legging left to right made it difficult to leave myself in position to get close with approach as I fade off the tee. Probably a lot easier course if your draw the ball.
No facilities were open for my 11am tee off, bar and pro shop closed hence facilities and services rated as poor.

This is my local course and at times has received a lot of justified criticism, the course this year has been exceptional. The greens are as good as they have ever been, the general up keep is neat and tidy. Course is one for the longer player but can be enjoyed by golfer of any level.

Course improved a lot since last season particularly the greens. Renfrew is lengthy but flat course with a variety of holes however the par 3s are quite long. Clubhouse friendly and has a good atmosphere and nice to have a post match drink and bite to eat in.
