What the club says: Opened in 1930, it is engagingly old-fashioned, with a meandering routing over and around the dunes. The course has recently been re-developed and the new par 73 layout offers a range of teeing areas and challenges to suit all golfers.
All manner of shots are required here: draws around sharp dog-legs; crisp irons to par threes over cavernous terrain; accurate tee shots down snake-like fairways, some wide and some not so generous; low trajectory shots into the Atlantic breezes; high shots down-breeze into raised and firm greens; chip and run shots over the mounds and dips. Throughout the adventure, all are captivated by the scenery and once experienced, it’s a course to which golfers return again and again.
A warm and friendly welcome awaits visitors and societies to Narin and Portnoo Golf Club and due to its links terrain, it is ideal for year-round golf.

Nice links course naturally carved out of the sand dunes. Couple of fairways in back 9 quite sandy but that has improved since the last time I played here.

A hidden gem, the stretch of three successive par 5s in the back nine is fun ! And they are superb holes

This challenging course is in a stunning location especially when the weather is good as your approaching holes 7-12 , great value for money, highly recommend.

One of the best courses I have ever played!
It was in spectacular condition and really could not fault it in anyway. After a straightforward first 3 holes the course winds down towards the sea and some breathtaking views. Straight driving is a must to return any type of score and the par 3's while all well within reach for all golfers must be landed on the green or you pay the penalty! The 3 par 5's in a row on the back 9 will either make you or break you, stamina is key to playing this course.
I'm back down in Donegal for a week in July and I'll be buying a weeks pass for a course that must surely be on any golfers bucket list :-)
