What the club says: The Old course has evolved over 100 years and its natural contours and the absence of bunkers give it a special character which is seldom repeated elsewhere. The numerous humps and hollows around the greens test the golfers ability to play a variety of shots - often in difficult conditions.

Not worth the money
Played this course recently but will not play it again. The greens were awful with bare rough patches making putting a lottery, Cow muck on the fairways, not nice when your ball rolls in it!. If your ball rolls into the rough you probably won’t find it.

excellent heathland experience
The new holes on the course are bedding in nicely, will be good to see the course again to see how it's further developed. Thoroughly enjoyable course, and busy but without a pace of play issue. Amazing new clubhouse funded by HS2!Reviewer Rating

common land golf
played cleeve, painswick and minchampton old over 2 days, staying in cheltenham for a cheap and cheerful golf break. Minch is the easiest of the bunch in terms of the walk, but good fun. Make sure you check your directions, as the other minchampton course is somewhere completely different!Reviewer Rating

Buttercups.
Buttercups line every fairway. Really good course, links like feel. Quite a few blindish shots going out. Number 1s green is slightly sunken. 5 is treacherously down hill to a small green, where behind the green is dead unless you hit a low wall. 8 is a fantastic par 3 over many humps and craters with heavy bush to the left of the green. The 9th is a slight dogleg which has a sloped green right to left with a crater on the right, bush to the left of the green. Another bigger sunken green on 11. 13 the fairway had not been cut after say 150 yards, so couldn't play that one properly. The hole then goes diagonally right, where you hit to a blind green. 14 is another good par 3; played bouncy; two tiered green. Nice approach shot on 15. 16 is a fantastic par 3; again over humps and craters, not as troublesome as hole 8s craters. 17 is a short 4 with a drop off to the right of the fairway, nice view down the hill to some Cotswold stone buildings.18 back up the hill to the clubhouse.Reviewer Rating

An enjoyable return to old fashioned golf
My wife and very much enjoyed the course. We had an amusing and interesting round- with several nice chats with walkers and the public. Playing a round with the additional hazard of cows and walkers however did not spoil the experience. We knew what to expect. There are a number of very good holes. The 5 th has a lovely green framed by trees, the 8 th is a par 3 of the highest order- trees on the left with linksy hills and hollows on the right . 11 has a sunken green in an iron age bulwark, 16 is a very tough links par 3 . You can score well here but can be caught out too .Reviewer Rating
