What the club says: Manor Course (Sprowston Manor)
After 16 months of intensive work and £1.6m of investment, the championship 'Manor Course' at Sprowston Manor opened in July 2003. The course has been totally re-designed by renowned architect Ross McMurray of European Golf Design, who was also responsible for the Marquess Course at Woburn and the improvements at The Celtic Manor. The new course is now one of the finest inland courses in the region and has already hosted a EuroPro Tour event. It measures in at 6,464 yards and features 75 bunkers, water hazards and greens built to USGA specifications. The signature hole is the 7th, a dogleg par four with a water feature running parallel to the fairway complete with a fountain and weirs.

Tip Top Condition
Greens and fairways perfectly maintained and lots of clean soft sand in the well looked after bunkers. Loads of trees on nearly all holes to catch stray drives but thankfully not too much water in play. some very picturesque holes with changes in elevation but not a struggle at all to walk around. Excellent food and service at the hotel and clubhouse. Will definitely be back.Reviewer Rating

Society Days @Sprowston Manor
Firstly a caveat as iHotels are affected by C19 restrictions however that said I believe Sprowston did a good job looking after 12 golfers over the last two days. The Golf course... well to be honest was a bit scruffy both fairways and greens which was a little disappointing. The layout and difficulty was about right, scenic and at times challenging. The side bar and Pro shop were adequate, although closed at 5 where as hotel did not open bar facilities till 6. It did not affect us but I know a few other parties were a bit miffed.
The booking of the restaurant was at 8, we finished at 10.30.. three courses which were lovely but 150 minutes to eat... so service although very professional was slow.
Rooms were ok, good beds etc, Breakfast was very well organised in the current climate. The hotel staff were polite and professional, the hotel like the course a bit scruffy. I enjoyed our stay but would not go back as a society. That said the whole stay was very good value so you have to weigh this up against the facilities.

Nice course, poor etiquette
Not the best start, had a tee time booked for 3pm and two minutes later 3 members rock up to the 1st tee box having literally just been told to go at 3pm. Pro shop has plenty of things, including the standard brands and club branded equipment available at standard prices. Really enjoyable course, which was in fantastic condition taking into account the recent rains. Nice fairways and plenty of bunkers, making course management essential if you've not played before. Greens run nicely and a pleasant sight of not having to repair other pitch marks on them. Only gripe was a members four ball in front, which not once offered us as a two ball the opportunity to play through, from as early as the 5th hole. That put a bit of a dampener on the afternoon, as we were out for over 3 & 1/2 hours. Clubhouse closed Insanely early at 5pm, so needless to say, we didn't have a chance to sample this side of things.Reviewer Rating

Not Great
After a long period of very hot weather the course was not in good condition. The tees didn't seem to have been watered and were pretty bad and although the greens looked good they were very slow and some were bumpy. Nowhere to get a drink afterwards, even in the hotel as they had not returned enough staff from furlough and were't opening the bar till 6 pm!! Hopefully will get better once they get all their staff back.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 95 Handicap: 20.4)
