What the club says: Founded in 1888 and set in the beautiful rolling Marlborough Downs, the course presents a real challenge to the low handicapper - the Wiltshire Professional Championship has been held at Marlborough for the last 17 years - at the same time as providing a fair test for those with higher handicaps. At 6,501 yards from the White tees (6,209 from the Yellow tees and 5,578 from the Ladies tees), Marlborough's downland course is a fair challenge for low handicappers and less experienced player alike.

Friendly & good course
I used to be a member here and the pro remembered me after quite a few years - which shows this is a friendly club. Good course in good condition.Reviewer Rating

Nice track!
Played here yesterday and it was a very pleasant round of golf indeed. Some beautiful holes with plenty of undulation. Would love to play it again as you need to manage your way round on some of the holes and only need a short iron teeing off to give you a second shot to the green. Nice facilities as well. Worth a visit. Greens were in good shape.Reviewer Rating

The back nine suffered in the Summer of 2018 and has not recovered. There are lots of bare patches. It looks worse in the rough between the tees and the fairways. The club themselves have a note on the website saying that reseeding is going on early May on 11 and 12. We played late May and they were still on Winter Rules. The Pro actually told us to drop or place within a club length?
That said - they are plainly addressing it.
Also - Greens - very good. Very true. General turnout ofthe course as a whole - excluding the hot weather damage from last year - was really good.
We will go back. But would want the damage to have been resolved.
So I am not saying don't go. Just be advised. One wold hope that it will improve later in the Summer.
