What the club says: The Kingussie golf course offers moderately easy walking on upland terrain, with a few short climbs at the 4th and 8th holes. In general the fairways are of a generous nature, but the course is deceptive and position off the tee is an important consideration, a factor often the key to low scoring. The course is kept in immaculate order and offers excellent greens and fairways. Overall, the course provides an excellent test of shot making, and is suited to all levels of ability.
With a standard scratch of 67 (yellow) - 68 (white) and 73 - (red - ladies) the course, while not long, offers a challenging but fair test of golf. The signature hole on the course is the 4th - while only some 475 yards in length (par 5), it is a deceptively difficult hole. Indeed, the general consensus amongst members is to play conservative golf for the first 4 holes - and once these holes are passed with a score to handicap intact, you may relax and enjoy!

Fantastic course well worth playing
First time playing Kingussie GC and was not disappointed, what a course. Friendly welcome in the shop and clubhouse. First thing you notice from the clubhouse looking out to the course is the backdrop, simply stunning. The views continue all around the course, so if your golf is not at it's best take a moment or two to take in the surroundings and wildlife. The course is in great condition, greens mint and rolled well. A few inclines to negotiate but nothing too strenuous. A couple of great par 3s from elevated tees. At time I played was quite quiet at times feeling I had the course to myself. All in all a great course to play.Reviewer Rating

Quality course, majestic setting....
Had to change my tee time, it wasn't an issue at all...so we rocked up at the new time.....it was a damp miserable day when I played but the gentleman in the pro shop couldn't have been more helpful.I made a few souvenir purchases for friends, including 3 really nice shirts at a very reasonable price, unlike most places!
I then had a quick swing, putt and was away, some really brilliant par 3s. Each one was very different from the last or any others, twice they come back to back ...not often you have a downhill par 3 over a gorge, road, river and it's only 90yards!.
Tough in the conditions of high winds and torrents of rain we played in....stunning course scenery doesn't do it justice it blew us away of the 150 plus courses that I've played this one felt like one of the most magical yet! Even the rain did not stop us viewing and commenting how beautiful it was many times!
Despite the condition out there the course held up really well, allowed some run and the greens were magnificent and true....
Afterwards we warmed back up, next to the fire ???? indoors, was served by a lovely lady who makes a mean cup of coffee. Chatted to some locals and the gentleman from the pro shop again....
Unbelievable price to join this course, of only I was a local...it's a no brainer, nothing was too much trouble.....thanks masses to all at Kingussie.

Must play
Another beautiful course in the Highlands, not overly long but still a great test, with a couple of tricky par 4's back to back on the back nine. The stars though are the two par 3's (7 and 15), both off elevated tees, and both over the river that runs through the course. Two of the prettiest par 3's anywhere I've played. Add to that the friendly welcome and the views of the Caingorms and it doesn't get much better!(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 82 Handicap: 11.5)

Entertaining rollercoaster through mountain landscape
If Carrbidge is perhaps the beauty of the area, Kingussie must be the handsom rugged older brother. With fairways dressed in autumn copper and gold, the lush fairways weaved their way up into the crags and heather hills opening up views across the strath to the majestic corries and sheer slopes of the Cairngorms, making this feel like a game of golf played in the mountains rather than the low slopes of Strathspey. With fun and challenging holes to negotiate, particulalrly the par 3s around the turn, the course seemed to have a more friendly set up than the treachorous rough of Grantown but the narrow fairways and fast flowing river beside the last three holes provided a sting in the tail for my round.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 91 Handicap: 16.3)
