What the club says: From the east you can see the splendour of the Westmorland Fells and beyond to the Yorkshire Dales. While viewing from north to west the full majesty of the Lake District mountains and valleys open up, before later looking southward towards Morecambe Bay and the Lancashire Plain.

The northern reaches of the course are within the Lake District National Park. The course has an excellent reputation for the fine standard of its greens and fairways and the limestone drainage ensures the course is playable all year round. There are holes which clue to their character and distinctiveness provide challenges for the most proficient or the higher handicap golfer.

Lots of elevation changes, nearly every hole is challenging, long par 3's, short par 4's this course has it all. Precise well though out shots rule the day.

Nice course worth playing but....

First time playing Kendal GC. Friendly welcome in the pro shop and clubhouse. Good practice facilities. Had heard that the course was hilly and the 1st hole gives you a taster. Not one hole seemed to be on the level, it certainly tests your fitness. Quite a few holes played blind as well. Rough was quite penal. Course in reasonable condition although greens were a little patchy but rolled well enough. We had a tough breeze to contend with which was bad enough, certainly would not like to tackle it in anything stronger. The big plus to this course is it's views, simply stunning so if the golf is going badly you could always stand back and admire them views. Would I return, probably not but glad I played it for the views alone.

Avoid at all costs

Poor condition, no bar facilities. Greens covered in moss and very little sign of any mowing taking place.

Unusual course layout with some challenging holes. Well stocked pro-shop. Short course which suited me as it was roasting. Some of the fairways could have done a bit more tending.

Avoid from November #MudPit

Super set up and excellent pro, very welcoming. practice area and 2 warm up nets. Mats in November and mud balls galore. Greens soon un-playable dark footprints everywhere 12th Nov 2022 event.

Good layout from proper tee's, winter mats made is very bland. I'll need to go back in the summer for a season review. great value@ £15 for winter pairs. take your waterproofs tho

Outstanding day at Kendal GC

I haven't played here since this time last year but could remember the layout but don't recall the course being in such great condition. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition, although two appeared to be recovering from some kind of disease. Many of the holes offer a challenge, starting with the first, up a steep hill which gets the blood pumping from the start. I like 16 & 17 which differ greatly but tough all the same. If you've never played here I?d recommend you give it a go. Great course great condition plus 30 degree temperatures added to the toughness !! I?ll be going back.

Stunning course with great views.

Great course! Stunning views! Quite hilly but that only adds to the characteristic of the course. Some amazing tee boxes that are challenging and fun. The Par 3 17th is one of the best holes I've ever played! Course knowledge is priceless. Next time I play I'd hope to take at least 5/6 shots of my score purely by knowing where the hidden greens are!
