What the club says: Great Lever Golf Club & Farnworth Golf Club, both 9 hole courses at the time, amalgamated to form Great Lever and Farnworth Golf Club in 1917. The course has changed considerably in the time up to the present day, both in it's layout and Club House location. Due to it's location, there are spectacular views over the Cheshire Plain, North Lancashire and into Yorkshire.

Great Lever & Farnworth
Despite the heavy rain today the course held up very well. The pin positions were particularly challenging with only one flag any where near the middle of the green. Would recommend the course and will play again soon.Reviewer Rating

Nice course worth playing but....
First time playing Great Lever & Farnworth GC. Friendly welcome in pro shop. Practice ground, net and putting ground near clubhouse. Course in good condition, a few bare patches around but generally lush. Greens good, nice roll, some quite tricky to read. Nice easy walk around as not the longest and no difficult hills to negotiate. Have to plot your way around a bit as not always driver off the tee. The but is local kids playing on the course, wrecking several bunkers and shouting out on your backswing. Not surprised that rakes are to be taken with you at beginning of the round. This should certainly not detract you from playing this nice course and I would play it again.Reviewer Rating

We played with a junior member. At the time the course had lots of holes closed and we're using fairway mats (not provided)Members on the course were not helpful they were rather judgemental to guests. One par 3 had a large hole/trench dug out on the left hand side of the green. This should have been closed.

Poor Greens
The rough is thick and you will struggle to find ball if you are off fairways which are very good. The greens are not so good and I'm unsure if they have had a problem or two. Remember to update any GPS watch you have as its altered over the past few years and dont forget you have to cross a very busy main road twice.Difficult to say if I'd recommend, depens where you currently play and the standard you expect.

Despite the heavy rain on the day we enjoyed the game and are playing there again this week. My brother is even considering membership of the course.

Very nice course
Played on a Tuesday morning, the course was quiet. It is well maintained and the greens were firm and fast after recent dry weather. Although the course is pretty flat there is a bit of a walk between two or three holes. The layout has changed so my Apple watch and my playing partners Garmin lost track on the 15th. Very friendly staff and members. We?ll worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

Loved this course and the members.
This course has moved on so much in the last 18 months. The new green keeper has sorted out all the main problems with the course, put in new bunkers, and is working so hard getting the greens in the best quality possible. He's add members helping with sorting out the drainage, placing a fountain in the 18th hole pond, getting the fairways in great condition. If this is a course that you have not played for a while, I strongly recommend you take another look, and with some amazing membership deals being had at the moment it really is a course on the way up. Massive well done to Ben and his team.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 91 Handicap: 15.8)
