What the club says: The fairways can be quite tight and approach shots to the cleverly designed par 3's certainly require accuracy. With greens rated amongst the best in Cambridgeshire and three daunting finishing holes (including one of the longest par fives in the county), every game will always be one to remember.

Beautiful Course
Played for first time today, wasn’t expecting much and clubhouse is slightly dated but where this course comes into its own is the golf course! Which is what it’s all about. Very well looked after, stunning setting and being a golf course that’s been around for a long long time approaching 100 years the course layout is fantastic and a lot of the time you can’t even see the other holes or other golfers. Reall beautiful layout and loads of challenging interesting holes with hazards. The rough is light and not the type that if you land a foot into you have no chance of finding your ball. You’re more likely to drop shots of the cleverly designed course hazard which is how it should be. Greens spot on and overall very well kept course. Best in Cambridge I’ve played, loved it. People were also very welcoming.Reviewer Rating

Disappointed
We played at Girton yesterday and the most positive thing we can say was how lovely the lady in the pro shop was. She gave us fluorescent bands to put on our bags, which we did at the front so they were visible to all. We found the course very repetitive & boring as only a couple of water holes to challenge you. At the 15th, we were approaching the green and a buggy came very quickly towards us, no etiquette at all. The two occupants were very abrupt in advising us they were doing a membership check (clearly somebody had reported two unknown players on the course), they could clearly see the fluorescent tags, when we explained we were visitors they didn’t say welcome, we hope you enjoy playing just drove off. That ruined the rest of my game and when we came off the course about 5.35 clubhouse all locked, no toilets to use or hand washing facilities as wasn’t advised locker room number. Same couple who checked the membership sat on the patio waiting for us to go. If our home club treated guests like this I would be mortified.Reviewer Rating

Good enjoyable course
I played at Girton in July 2023 as part of a golf society. Being just north of Cambridge, it is inevitably a very flat course. This suits me very well with my advancing years! It is a reasonable challenge without being too difficult for most golfers. I thought it to be a very suitable course for golf societies where abilities can vary from single handicappers to very high handicappers. The clubhouse and on course staff were very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. I would certainly play here again.Reviewer Rating

Well-kept course
Girton golf course, very friendly staff and fellow golfers. We played in freezing weather and although winter greens were in play the course was extremely playable and is a great looking course. The winter greens were bobbly but fun to play. The main greens looked lovely, we look forward to going back in warmer weather and playing. The staff were friendly although not a full lunch menu was available but bacon sandwiches were warm and welcoming.

Worth Playing
Course is worth a visit if you are local.Tidy shortish course but quite challenging in places - especially off the tee. Have done some work recently to try and improve some of the holes. The greens were really good and subtle breaks ca be tough to read. Enjoyable course.

Great Fun
I do enjoy a visit back to Girton. The layout of the course is a friendly one for most abilities, long hitter wont need to hit driver much but there are some tricky holes.
The greens have subtle breaks which are hard to master. A couple of great dog leg holes too.
All round its a great course for any ability.
