What the club says: The club was founded in 1909, originally a 9 hole course which converted to a full 18 in 1912. It has hosted a handful of tournements and and championships, including the Gloucestshire championship. It is pleasant to play and offers a real ambient feel to the golfer as soon as you enter the clubhouse.

The welcome from the pro shop was excellent and very friendly. We were first out in the morning so unfortunately couldn't spend too long looking round there well stocked pro shop.
Fairways, first cut, rough and hazards were well maintained and clearly marked out. Greens were true and quick, I would expect them to be even quicker next week.
Some very interesting greens would allow some great pin locations. This paired with well placed bunkers, and the course could play different every time you go there.
The course gives a variety of different challenges on each tee. Elevated tee shots, narrow tree lined fairways, long and short par 3's, drivable per 4's it really does have everything. You can tell the greenkeepers have worked hard to deliver this variety.
All in all very happy with my experience, and will be planning a return soon. Thank you Filton Golf Course

Filton review
Interesting mix of parkland holes, all tree lined so benefiting a straight hitter.Built along a long ridge in North Bristol, with holes running along, up and down providing variety and views of the city and Welsh hills in the distance.
Two long and two short P3s, two decent P5s, and the rest 4s running from 280ish to about 450. Really good greens, but scruffy hazards - bunkers, and ditches mainly with a couple of ponds.
Currently a large no play area spoiling a couple of holes.
Pro shop and bar both friendly, with a good choice of beers in the latter, and an excellent club sandwich.
Once the no play area is sorted out then the access road will be the worst part of the course. It has more pot holes than the course had bunkers!
But overall a good course and great greens.

AMAZING value pay and play
I would challenge anyone to tell me in the UK a course with such great variety and value for money ?20 p.p. Mon-Fri and ?2 p.p. more weekends.Played every course in Bristol and I can safely say nowhere else has truer greens.
Length and finesse best tested on the Masters, Accuracy and "knowing your yardages" on the Signature. Water in play on no fewer than 14 holes on the Signature. Masters is 3 to 4 shots harder.

Course is in good condition somethings confuse me
Clearly a club which wants to be members only. Not exactly the warmest of welcomes, to be honest made to feel like a nuisance as my phones email couldn't open my teeofftimes notification email (the title was clear). Confused to why we were asked to start at the 10th. We had to squeeze into established golf traffic which was busy yet the 1st was quiet. Again being higher handicapped golfers this made us feel in the way. Considering the number of groups the pace of play was good. The course although not spectacular is in very good condition, you would struggle to find greens better than these. Surprised there wasn't many ball cleaners at the Tees and when we did find the odd one they were dry. Course could do with more signage as a couple of holes required quite trek to the next tee as it wasn't overly clear.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 84 Handicap: 17.4)
