DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE
U MAINTAINED. no effort has gone into maintenance 0%. The tees are longer than the rough. The fairway is the same level as the rough. The greens are what you expect from a poor fairway. All holes are waterlogged and there is no indication of any of this on their website. I drove up from Ramsgate as I used to play here some 15yrs ago and what a serious waste of time and effort. If there had been any sembelence of what laid ahead I would of run a mile. Avoid like the plague and play Hainault or Risebridge. The only reason I give it an excellent course layout/challenge is because it is impossible to complete a par score on this course. This is without doubt the ****** golf course I have ever played in 30 years of golfReviewer Rating

Gone Downhill
Greens are dead and cracked making serious putting impossible - more hit and hope. This used to be a good option for a fun day's golf - it was never anything like a top course but it was good value. Even though it's still very reasonably priced, it's not good value anymore. Whether it's council cutbacks I don't know, but it's gone seriously downhill. And despite the course being virtually empty, there were no trolleys available due to a lack of handles. I've enjoyed playing this course over the last few years but I won't be going again in a hurry.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 115 Handicap: 26.3)

Disappointing
I used to play this course regularly about five years ago. It is now in an awful condition. The tee’s are mostly overgrown. Ninety five percent of the greens have little or no grass. All have cracks in them due to dry weather. I am not sure if I shall play there again.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 95 Handicap: 17)

Looks Dreadful
I live a drive and a wedge from Fairlop Waters. I have played a few times in years gone by and actually believe with some love it would be a good course. Went for a walk over there yesterday and I have to say I have never seen a golf course in worse condition, from the tee boxes to the greens, I didn't include fairways as I didn't see any grass cut short enough to be classed as such. 2pm on a nice Sunday afternoon in May and we saw the grand total of 3 golfers. Says it all. Such a shame!Reviewer Rating

Awful course
I played Fairlop for the first time in over 10 years today. It is in absolutely disgusting condition. I doubt any kind of upkeep has taken place for at least 2/3 years. Most greens were on the fairway. Tees were indistinguishable. No wonder it was empty. DO NOT waste your money here.Reviewer Rating

Avoid like the plague
Fairlop waters was a very nice course once, but unfortunately the council have got there grubby hands on it,the fairway and greens resemble the surface of mars.Just needs some money spent on it, don't be too surpised if they start building on the land.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 85 Handicap: 20.9)

Total abomination
Never, in nearly 20 years of playing golf have I enjoyed a round less. This course will leave you feeling like James Dyson's latest vacuum has sucked out your soul. Where should I begin in describing the pig sty that is Fairlop Waters? The tee boxes would, on any other course, be deemed as ground under repair. They are uneven and covered in grass at least an inch high - and that is the good ones. Several of them have weeds growing through. I had to swing a diver through flowering dandelions a couple of times. The greens are abysmal. The grass is so long that as you walk you leave footprints half an inch deep. Worst of all is the rough. It is covered in thick clumps of mown grass which cause you to loose almost any ball you hit into it. This is particularly frustrating if you only miss a fairway by a yard or two. What is such a shame is how badly this course has been left to rot. Not long ago it was a nice setup. It is now in a disgraceful condition. Never again.Reviewer Rating

Needs work
Tee boxes not very good, some fairways need cutting, bar staff ignored us for 5 minutes while they talked amongst themselves. Better courses in the area you can playReviewer Rating

Overpriced!
I decided to play Fairlop Waters because it is one of three golf courses within ten miles of my house that I have never played. One of the reasons I haven't played here before is the bad things I had heard. When I arrived at the course it turns out I had to pay to park! It was only 40p, but it put a sour taste in my mouth.
There is no pro shop, you pay at the bar in the main building. It cost me £19 for the round and £3 for a small bucket of range balls (40 balls). I had to pass both Risebridge and Hainault Forest to get to this course. Both these golf courses are in a better condition, and cheaper than Fairlop Waters!
The range is dated and they use the old style range balls. It could really do with bit of tender loving care!
The course is very flat, and if it wasn't for the trees around the course you could probably see every hole. The whole course is in dire need of some tender loving care. The tee boxes were not that good and the grass needed cutting. This was the same for the fairways and greens, they all needed cutting. It could be that they are letting it get longer for the winter, but when you see daisies and dandelions on the fairways, I would say it needs cutting.
The bunkers had sand in them, but there were no rakes. Again, needed some looking after. There was grass growing through the sand and the edges of the bunkers needed trimming.
The greens were decent (apart from one which had problems!) They ran true but were slow, probably due to the fact they needed cutting.
I have marked this course off as being played now, and probably will never play it again. It's overpriced for what it is and I pass better (cheaper) courses to get here!
The only way I would play here again is if it was in a competition or somebody I was playing with desperately wanted to play here!

Absolute Rip Off ????
I played 18 holes at 7am I was charged £49 for one round with a buggy, considering the greens were covered in divets, dog walkers everywhere & no site of a decent fairway!! I cannot believe that they charge so much money for a public open course. It's cheaper & much more satisfying playing Hainault Forest GC which is just over a mile away!!The buggy was disgusting, it looks like it has never been cleaned & they are only 4 years old, absolutely fuming ????
Not worth the money as pound for pound this has to be the most expensive course in the country for what you get.
