What the club says: The course is situated on the beautiful South Downs and enjoys wonderful panoramic views across the English Channel, Beachy Head and directly over Eastbourne.
Boasting 100 years in development the course is a superb example of a downland course. Depending on the time of year you can experience fast running fairways and tight lies to soft receptive greens into a stiff breeze. Whatever your skill level you’ll find the course a superb test of golf. No two days will play the same at the Downs offering you the ability to develop a wide range of skills and shots.

Fantastic views!
Great course, in really good condition. Not the longest course, but the hills and contours make it challenging. Beautiful countryside and seaside views as well.Reviewer Rating

Really good condition
Despite the wettest 12 months in living memory this course is in fantastic condition, can get windy as expected with a coastal course. Green fees are reasonable, great welcome and easy booking system. Course plays longer than its 6500 yards, but you can play any of the tees to suit ability. Thoroughly recommend what ever time of yearReviewer Rating

Beautiful scenery, tricky course
First time at Eastbourne Downs. Weather was kind - gentle breeze which is unusual for the cliff-top position. Amazing views on a clear sunny day. Fairways in great condition on natural chalk downland turf, despite a lot of rain over recent weeks. Greens also look great but were very slow compared to the courses I usually play on - took some getting used to! lots of undulating and sloping greens, which is a great challenge and makes every hole interesting.Reviewer Rating

Great Downlands Links Course
I've played here a few times in the past, so much so that I decided to join in 2023.Its a great course with spectacular views and plays differently each time you play it, subject to the wind direction.
The fairways and greens are always in great condition and I'm looking forward to my next round there.

Challenging course
Review in August 2022.This is the most challenging course in Eastbourne and has spectacular views of surrounding area and the sea. General course condition is good except the bunkers which are currently in need of repair and more sand; the greens are excellent, checkout the second which has synthetic fibres woven into the renovated green.
If the conditions are benign it is a still a good test for the all golfers; good course management is required off the tee and many approaches are from sloping lies.
Green fees are reasonable and the clubhouse facilities are good; definitely worth a visit.
