This course offers something for everyone... there are long par 5s, short par 3s, plenty of water, tight fairways, fast greens and thick rough!
There are at least 5 holes where a shot over water is unavoidable, whether from the tee or in approach to the green. But the course is beautifully looked after - the straight drive is rewarded by firm fast fairways, while the semi-rough still offers a shot. The rough is rough and the hazards are wet (even the ducks didnt bother moving for us to search).
The greens are fast but readable and were a pleasure to putt on.
In the clubhouse they served a fine full Irish breakfast and a great pint!
I look forward to returning to play East Clare and will definitely be back.... if only to look for the balls i lost!

They like their water hazards at East Clare where there are several tee shots over water... and several more holes where a shot over water is required to make the green.
The course is in great condition though with fairways that reward the right tee shot and greens that run exactly as you would expect.
The green fees represent excellent value for money (particularly compared with some of the other courses in the surrounding area) and the layout offers a challenge for all standards of goler.
I look forward to returning to Ireland and will definitely play East Clare again... if only to look for all the balls I lost ;-)
