What the club says: East Berkshire stands on the North Downs near the western end of the Forest of Windsor. The course was originally designed by Peter Paxton in 1904, who was adept at using the water courses that flow on the land to guard the greens. Heather too was used as a feature to provide cross hazards on some of the longer holes, reducing the need for bunkers and maintaining a natural look to the course. These natural barriers and cleverly designed doglegs mean the course plays a lot longer than the 6,400 yardage suggests. Coupled with fast undulating greens, this makes for a real challenge of not only a players striking ability but also their discipline and course strategy, as the competitors of the annual East Berks Stag will testify.

From its origins as a heathland course, East Berkshire has matured into a tree-lined course of great beauty. Shaped fairways leading into well-defined semi rough helps to identify the driving areas and carefully placed greenside hazards ensure that wayward shots go unrewarded.

A lovely traditional golf club with boards showing members going back to 1907. Paying green fees of £70 with a discount due to the weather effected bunkers, we had the course to ourselves with lovely green and tree lined fairways.

Although in good condition, the course did not represent the visitor green fee price as the layout and holes lacked imagination and challenge. Additionally, I was rudely spoken to by a member which made our group feel thoroughly unwelcome. In short, an unenjoyable experience and I would advise against visiting.

East Berkshire is Playing Very Well.....

Course is in excellent condition at the moment with the fairways lush and green.

The greens are fast and true and, as always, difficult to read!

Course is looking and playing really well with the fairways just about recovered from the dry spells. Greens are running smooth and true.

Amazing golf course and in great condition - one of the nicest places to play in the area and well set out. Few tight holes make it tricky

Great Course

Would recommend, course is in very good condition as we approach autumn. Fairways getting a lot of carry due to warm weather and greens have recovered from recent treatment.

Nice course with changed order of holes

They have changed the order of playing the holes this year with the 1st being the old 16th, then you play holes in same order with the old 1st now the 4th and 15th being the 18th which I think is a better finishing hole. Course in great condition and they had held a regional junior event the previous day although the fairways did have quite a few unfilled divots.

The new short game area is very nice addition pity it couldn't be located near the putting green and range.

Course Playing Great

After last year's dry spell the course is almost back to it's best.

Would recommend as it's playing really nicely at the moment with the only downer being some of the fairways and rough still not quite up to where they should be.

Great Course

Course in reasonable condition due to time of year with the 5th being worked on so closed and some of the fairways not recovered from last year's drought. Otherwise would recommend to anyone as it's a challenge and a great course.
