What the club says: Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club was originally founded in 1892 on a course designed by the legendary Old Tom Morris and is often regarded as one of the most picturesque golf courses in Perthshire. The most scenic panorama from the clubhouse

We played Dunkeld and Birnam two weeks ago and the first thing which strikes you is the view from the clubhouse window: it is really quite breathtaking!! The course is split into two quite distinct halves: the old (original) heathland set up, which encompasses holes 1-8, 17 & 18 of the modern day course, it is full of character and you are playing across stunning views everywhere, lots of little rocky outcrops, broom, Heather as well as occasional sightings of the local wildlife: it is Scotland in miniature as Walter Scott portrayed it!! The new part is more of parkland character but the holes are nicely designed over two streams and it makes you think your way round those parts of the course. We both said that it is a course which is well worth a second visit. We were very warmly welcomed by members and staff in the clubhouse and had a very satisfactory meal after our round.

Excellent course but buggies are a must to fully enjoy it due to the elevation changes

Great Course, not to be missed

Played 11th August in a three ball, weather conditions were warm with no wind at all.
Couldn't believe how quiet the course was in terms of both golfers, people are missing out on this wee cracker and no traffiic noise etc.
Course is relatively hill and after reading some other reviews we decided to get buggies ?20 each.Good choice as the course did have a varied change in elevation, albeit there were presumed members walking the course.
Course was in great condition including the greens that were a bit slower than we are used to playing links golf however very good.
Some great looking and challenging holes especially the 17th and 18th both par 3?s that were both elevated up and down respectively.
Staff very friendly in clubhouse, only had tea/coffee, rolls in sausage in the morning that was very good and very reasonable.
We used a Scottish Golf a Show voucher to play however would definitely pay to play again and 2nd time around use some better course management on some of the holes.

A hidden gem in every spence of the word Sat-nav needed to find the course but well worth the visit.
Like the fact that its 3 sets of nine holes play nine if time restricted and vary every visit with combinations of choice of three.
Made to feel very welcome by members and staff and a great fish tea.
