A great experience
Played this course as a 4 ball. There was a nice welcome at the pro shop. We had time to have a coffee before the round and the clubhouse catering was spot on. Again, very friendly and welcoming. We all thought the course was in great nick. There was a great variety of holes. The five par 3's in particular. Fine greens, fast but not too slick. Overall, a great day out.Reviewer Rating

Loved it!
4 of us playing a couple of courses either side of a visit to watch the Open at St Andrews, not too busy, let a couple of 2 balls through as we were a 4 and in no massive rush. Greens were true and maybe a tad slower than Id expect, fairways good, with sand and seed in some divots. The rough was pretty demanding so although open looking in places, the need for a decent tee shot remained. Spray it around and expect a lighter bag at the end of your round!Food and drinks were good and service in the bar very good, members very welcoming.

Nice course but...
DNGC has a nice course. not too long and challenging enough, but some of the maintenance is done at odd times. For example, the greens have just all be hollow cored in June (and this isn't the first time) ? why? The greens are currently bumpy as hell and hairy/slow. Bit of a shame really as they can be excellent and this year they will be ready just in time for the winter! Beware of the rampant rough - you need to accurate off the tee as wayward shots are punished with lost balls. Finally, the club is dominated by more senior members so play can be glacial and they seldom show any desire to allow faster groups to play thru. I've been stuck behind a four ball that wouldn't let us through and the round took nearly 5 hours! The pro shop & resident Pros are excellent and welcoming. Play with a member to get a good concession rate (?12 I think), but it's not worth ?50 for a general visitor fee. There are better courses out there to play for less.Reviewer Rating

OK course
The course itself is quite nice, but a bit tatty around the edges like upgrade work has been abandoned half way thru. Greens not bad for this time of year so I suspect they will be excellent by the summer. 15 & 16 are a bit uninspiring. 9 is a seriously hard hole and 10 is poorly designed with the green being an upturned bowl making it just about impossible to hold for the average amateur. Members (especially the older ones) are pretty cold and unfriendly towards visitors. If you get stuck behind a 4 ball of OAPs, give up - they will never let you play thru and pace is glacial. Club house is nothing special. Good pro shop and both resident pros are welcoming. Play if you get a good deal, but don't pay full price - its not worth it.Reviewer Rating

Played on a sunday in late October. Course still in great condition. Not too long and very much risk and reward for longer hitters. Greens were quick and extremely consistent. The members were very welcoming. Course was busy but our 3 ball still got round in just under 3.5 hours. Had a nice bit of food in the clubhouse afterwards, not expensive at all. Would highly recommend this course.
