What the club says: Cowdenbeath golf club was originally built as a 9 hole course on the old Dora Coal mine site. Work began in 1988 and the course was completed and ready for play in 1991. The length of the course was 3315 Yards. The course was extended to 18 holes and opened by Sir Michael Bonallack in 1996. The length of the course is now 6207 yards with a standard scratch score of 71.
A new clubhouse was built and officially opened on 6th December 1998 by ex-provost James Cameron who had opened the first clubhouse.
The course is full of character and charm and is a picturesque parkland layout with gentle undulations and tree lined fairwys. It provides a challenge for both high and low handicappers.

Good course
This is a good golf course, variety of holes the par 3 4th is a great we hole ( I had a nightmare at it), the course was in good condition. Only thing wrong was the clubhouse was shut when we got back in( only 3.30pm) so nothing to eat or drink to have.Reviewer Rating

A lovely surprise
Haven’t played Cowdenbeath GC for a good number of years. What a lovely surprise. Course was in excellent condition, greens were superb, only minor complaint, bunkers were poor, but, as I wasn’t in any, no problemReviewer Rating

Contrasts
Played this course often this year with my wife. Very enjoyable and tends to be quiet. The newer 9 holes...3 to 11...are more interesting than the original 9, which are all rectangular tees to large circular greens, a number with small false fronts. The new 9 holes are really well laid out, with interesting bunkering and shaping of fairways. The greens have improved hugely since Fife Golf Trust took over, although the bunkers need raked more regularly.Haven't used the clubhouse. Practise facilities are fine.

Challenging for all levels
Course offers a challenge to all level of golfers. It is in excellent condition and the greens run relatively fast. Only problem area is the bunkers due to heavy rain and lack of raking due to Covid. Very friendly welcome by starter and a thoroughly enjoyable round. Highly recommended.(Round played: Oct 2020 - Score: 85 Handicap: 12.5)
