What the club says: Golf has been played in Dooks since 1889. The Golf Club is set out on one of the three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle Bay. Across the bay to the north are the Slieve Mish and Dingle Mountains and South-eastwards are the famed MacGillycuddy's Reeks. For the golfer, who is seeking a beautiful and tranquil environment, Dooks presents a convincing case. Hole number 13 best illustrates the charm and magic of Dooks. It is a throwback hole to the time when golf began; Greens lay where they fell and were the better for it.

True Links test

Real traditional Links Course - weather was kind and wind was low so the conditions were kind. Friendly staff and pace of play was good. Will return...

AnotherSuperb Kerry Links

Dooks Golf Club is located just outside Killorglin and is a superb Links. It is challengin* yet fair. Greens are in superb nick and fairways are what you’d exp3ct this time of ten year.....a nice bit of grass. One should definitely play this if you get the chance. Food was superb. Service was top drawer.

Dooks at its best

What a nice course on a beautiful 'summers' day ......why I didn't play well is beyond me. I could not have asked for better conditions on this really wonderful course. The greens were in good condition although some were recently sanded. The fairways were in super condition while the rough was challenging but fair. Service in the club house and shop were top class and the friendliness of the staff was excellent and admirable.

Breathtaking

Ok, so you're in Kerry, lots of places are going to have you gaping in awe at your surroundings, but believe me, this is quite simply the most beautiful place to play golf. We arrived (in sideways rain) for an 8:50 tee off. The pro shop, when booking, asks if you can arrive 30 mins earlier and glad we did. We were welcomed like old friends, and given a bit of a run down re course conditions, where everything was and invited to change at leisure and make use of the putting and chipping areas to loosen up. One of our party had asked to hire clubs...you have never seen a group of more jealous faces, when he was presented with a brand new, full set of titleists !!! (All of us made a note to hire clubs on our next visit). We went into the locker room, (which has an Augusta type feel), and changed into our weather gear and popped everything in the good size lockers. (The dont charge for lockers either which was a nice touch). After a bit of putting and chipping we took to the first tee. You walk up a small gradient and onto the tee behind the pro shop/club house.....BEHOLD !!!!! Even in the rain and gale force winds, nothing could have detracted from the vista that greeted us. I even had a quick peek over the small rise running adjacent to the first hole and the majesty of view that greets you in beyond my writing abilities. There are simply not enough superlatives. It quite simply must be seen to be believed. And so it went on. Hole after hole of incredible beauty and a good test of golf shots. Greens were true, lightening quick and surrounded by the types of pot bunkers that make people weep if stuck in one and apoplectic with joy when they get out of one. The greens do undulate and take the ball on a merry dance after is leaves the putting face, but you sink one and you will be reliving it over and over for years to come. In my opinion, the front nine where a tad tougher but there is not much in it and to be honest, if you are having a bad hole simply look up, look around and smile. Bad holes here wont stick in the memory but the scenery and majesty of your surroundings will. We finished in good time, only held up on one hole and even then, only because the wind had picked up severely and across the course huddled figures braced against the wind and not a shot was attempted by any. We showered and changed (you request towels at the bar), and went in for a few pints and a review of the round. All of us (even the guy that had a mare and promised he was quitting golf and taking up crown green bowling), were non stop complimentary. Members were obviously enjoying our giddy and glowing praise for their course and were genuinely interested in our feedback and gracious hosts. Thanks for the hospitality. We finished up with a trip into the pro shop where the club pro remarked "Well played lads, now you've had a REAL links experience. That's the toughest conditions we have had all year". He may have been being kind or maybe he overheard our potential crown green bowling wannabe group member and took pity on him, but whatever his reasons. It had the desired effect. I will definitely be returning to play this wonderful course.(.... and if God wants to up the ante with more gale force winds and sideways rain, then so be it....there'll be a warm welcome in the club house and that I know for sure). Played 29th April 2017

A fantastic dry day the best links course that i have come across for many years. Lovely friendly manager pro and service people, beautiful food and atmosphere.
Other than the Waterville course it could not be beat.

This course is beautiful with the beaches at Rossbeigh to be seen in the background of this superb links course. This is a challenging but interesting test even on the pet say that we got early in October. I can't wait to go back. Service in the restaurant was top class.......friendly and professional that ensures a climate of all that is good in Kerry. Some US tourists were highly impressed.

good links course but in my view too punishing as there are very few times when even a slightly wayward shot doesn't result in a lost ball. medium to high handicappers should probably avoid this place.
there's a club house but there was no food option when we played, there's also no range.
beautiful to look at but you could come off feeling very bruised

A beautiful links course which we thoroughly enjoyed despite the horrific weather conditions. The lack of trees on the 16th and 17th is noticeable since they have been cut down but the gorse makes it equally challenging especially on a Bad wet day.

An excellent course. A proper fair links. Very few blind shots which is great for the first time player. Lots of raised greens that will give you trouble if you don't commit to them. The course was in excellent condition - you wouldn't have known that it had rained solidly for the previous two days. Everyone very friendly in and around the clubhouse. Be warned that they don't have many buggies so if you want one it is worth booking in advance.

A great course with fantastic views. A touch challenge, especially in wind rain and sun, but well worth a visit. Course in great shape with undulating fairway and green. Would certainly want to play again.
