What the club says: Deer Park Golf Club has perhaps the most challenging course in the Lothian’s. The course extends through natural parkland, enjoying stunning views of west Lothian and Fife and an enviable reputation. Deer Park was designed and built by Peter Allis, Dave Thomas and Peter Clark in 1978, and has become one of Central Scotland’s leading Golf & Country Clubs. Deer Park is a challenging but fair Parkland course, with generous tree lined fairways and the occasional pond to capture a stray ball! Strategically positioned bunkering and large undulating greens make this 6,727 yard course a fair test of golf.

Lovely parkland hidden gem
I have played Deer Park a number of times and it is always enjoyable. The layout is really interesting with the front nine being across flat terrain with a burn in play on a number of holes. The back nine is more hilly with some great views. The fairways were lush and the tees were well presented. The only complaint was how slow the greens were - they could have done with a cut. But at £35 a round you really can't complain. Very friendly club as well.Reviewer Rating

Course is in good condition, unfortunately, the members play extremely slow and you can be waiting around at every single tee. It spoils the course and I can see them losing members because of it.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic parkland close to Edinburgh
I had not played Deer Park in a few years and my positive memories were certainly reinforced. The first positive was the pro shop shuffling the tee times to accomodate our late arrival into Edinburgh Airport. Once we got underway, the course was a real star. It's a fabulous layout with every hole being different. The front nine is particular is great but the back nine is no slouch either. Every hole sticks in your mind. The conditioning was great and even though the greens were not quick it was just because they had not been cut in a few days. At £40 a rounf on a Saturday afternoon you will be hard pushed to find better value golf in the area, maybe even the whole of Scotland.Reviewer Rating

Well laid out
A very well laid out course. The front 9 is reasonably flat so easy walking the back 9 is very hilly. The course was very wet when we played in September and the majority of the greens were close to unplayableReviewer Rating

Bunkers due to inclement weather where out of action but that’s Scotland for you.
Course itself is good and there’s a mixture of straight forward holes and challenging holes for all types of golfers.
At 56 in just getting back in after a 35 year absence from golf and this course for me was ok
Handicap 17 went round in 91 net 74. This will come down and date day a return to Deer Park will help.

Fantastic day!
We (three ball) had booked through the Bunkered voucher scheme and opted for the morning coffee and roll and sausage before the golf with the two course lunch following the golf. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and very helpful. The course was in great condition. We were playing from the slightly forward tee placements because it was technically still winter but still very long. In the summer this course will be a monster, not for the cardiac-challenged golfer! The food was outstanding and the portions were generous, however the biggest takeaway from the day was the staff, just brilliant all round, would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend this course to every level of golfer, you won’t regret it.
