What the club says: Cupar Golf Course is located at Hilltarvit, which is on the south side of Cupar, ten miles west of St Andrews. The Club was founded on 7th November 1855. Cupar Golf Club is rich with history and is probably the oldest nine-hole club in the world. Cupar's nine holes will entertain players of all abilities.
The hillside parkland course first played in 1892 is mature and well tended. Small greens cut into the hillside are in excellent condition. At 5153 yards from the medal tees, the longest hole is 417yards.

Hilly
The whole course is played on the side of a slope. Very had to get drives to hold on the fairway as they just roll off to the rough on the right. Clubhouse looks good, greens are good but in truth the course isn’t great. Was very cheap so decent value(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 90 Handicap: )

A gem!
Played course in sunny but windy conditions in early August 2018. Weather had been sunny for the summer so the course was in great condition, with the fairways running well for a parkland course. Most shots are on a slope due to the hillside location, and this adds to the challenge! The course is short but protects itself with well placed bunkers around the green, a prevailing wind, and slopes, that make ball placement key if you are to score well around here. The greens were in immaculate condition, running fast and true, with multiple borrows and nuances that make getting to the green only half the story! A true credit to the green keeper and some of the best parkland greens I have ever played on, quite the compliment for a nine holer in the heart of golf country!
I would return here without hesitation. A real gem, and a test for all standard of golfers.

Difficult to judge course as many holes have severe sideways slopes. I guess you will do better on your 2nd or 3rd nines (as I did) when you get an idea of how to play the holes.
Monday apparently is the day off so cant judge the catering / although clubhouse and locker room appeared to be well looked after.
Very friendly welcome from Head Greenkeeper.
Would consider returning as it is a challenging and interesting layout. Take some food /drinks to keep you going as some holes you maybe need your walking boots.
If you have a powered trolley, suggest you use it rather than carrying or pushing a trolley.
