What the club says: Designed by Harry S. Colt, of Wentworth and Sunningdale fame, this mature parkland course opened for play in the late 1930s. The 6,037 yard layout surrounds the hotel and features lush fairways and high quality greens making for a relaxing and enjoyable 18 holes of golf. The beautiful par 3 sixth is a great signature hole of 161 yards requiring a well-struck tee-shot from an elevated tee to a rolling green.

The fairways was very heavy with mud and worm cast and the greens was very soft but running reasonably given the heavy conditions.

Very good
Played 5th July. Greens were slow as heavy rain in the morning, but ran true. I just needed to hit the putts harder. Rough cut back made for a quicker round. Some bunkers were GUR. Overall VGC. Always friendly and still a great price relative to the course. Lower handicappers probably consider it too easy with adjoining fairways and no water, but for mid and higher, it’s a great place to play and improve.Reviewer Rating

Always an old favourite
Been playing here for 30 years, great mix of playable holes and some challenging ones - course conditions are good and it is not too hilly so easy to walk. Always enjoy this courseReviewer Rating

Old Favourite
I haven't played this course in over 20 years so much so that I couldn't remember any of the holes but for what is more or less a public pay and play course it was in great shape I was especially impressed by the greens. There was a lot of rain in recent weeks but it was firm underfoot and my buggy and shoes did not collect any mud.
The only downside as far as I was concern was the tee boxes which could do with a little more TLC.

Great greens, rugged tee boxes
Greens were in great condition with no bumps, consistent speed and a true testFairways also good. Tee boxes were not mown and somewhat uneven
Under trees cut nice and short which made it easier to find an errant shot. Overall a good experience.
