Great challenge on lovely course
Well worth a visit, a good challenge for all levels of play. The course was in very good condition for time of year and after a recent hollow tine session. Haven’t played this for a number of years but would be my chosen course in the area to join as a member.Reviewer Rating

Love Golf courses, hate members!
What is it with club members? Our day started off on a real sour note as we were queuing up to tee off the 10 th to start our round. There were 2 groups of seniors in front of us so we waited for them to go, which was fine. We then had 2 lady members march on to the tee and telling us that we were of the wrong tee ( we weren’t)Next, they told us that there were loads of 2 balls coming through behind them and we would hold everyone up ( there weren’t) and that they were in a competition ( Hmmm- I’ve never seen a competition that plays of the juniors tee’s and doesn’t involve putting out on the majority of holes, but you never know!)
They then walked in front of us, justifying their need to push in with the fact that they were only playing 9 holes. And then held us ( a 3 ball) up for all of those 9 holes.
Just rude really ladies, but being gents we kept quiet and got on with our round. I realise we would be getting in the way of your normal Friday 2 ball, but I would have thought that ensuring members to your club are treated as well as possible or it could lead to a review like this!!
So I was Mr grouchy for the first 3 or 4 holes until I started to play well. The First 9 holes we played ( the back 9 on the card) felt a bit open and nothing much to write home about, albeit that the course condition was great and the Greens were really good. The final 9 holes ( front 9) were more interesting, tighter and a more challenging layout.
By the end I was really enjoying myself, not least because of scoring 42 points and finishing everything off with an ace on the last hole!
So all in all a lovely day out, the course is in great condition and interesting enough. The clubhouse was fine, even though there is building work going on to make new changing rooms. The pro was really welcoming as were the Stewards in a comfortable bar.
It’s worth playing, but watch out for the members!!

Great value golf
Go to Shrivenham Park on a Wednesday & pay ?7.0 per round. That's what I call a real bargain. It's a short course (5154 yds) but at this price you won't regret it.Reviewer Rating
