What the club says: The Open course comprises a front nine built around a stunning lake and a back nine featuring mature trees and open fairways.
The Masters course is designed in part by Peter Alliss and combines ancient hedgerows and undulating fairways with large greens and strategically placed water hazards.
What Golfshake says: Open - New owners have changed the way you play the course but for the btter. As always in great condition and a tough test of golf. A lot of different holes.
Masters - A great beginners course or one for low handicappers to get some confidence up. But relax at your peril, you can still find danger here and putting on good undulating greens is tough.

Championship course
Great course with a lot of water to think about. Makes for some course management or a ruined card early doors…….Nice views of both courses from the clubhouse to relax with a liquid refreshment on completion.

Great package, couple of tweeks and its amongst the best value!
We stayed the weekend on a Golfbreaks package at 179pp which is exceptional value for the quality of this venue. It was one of the hottest weekends of the year in June 2023 and this is one of the best venues to be at when its sunny and hot. Lots of good air con and sun verandas everywhere. The championship course has been altered slightly and the ominous first hole has been made much easier. The first green has been extended back towards the fairway so you can now reach it quite easily from a 200 yard tee shot. For me that is a pity as it was a make or break brutal first hole and now its a points hole for a decent player. Anyway, that aside the course was lovely and as challenging as always. The greens were quick and in lovely condition and the fairways were still quite lush. After the round we always enjoy the lovely clubhouse and veranda which is a massive plus side to this venue. Also they have plenty of bar staff so you do not have to wait too long to be served, another plus side. Dinner was a two course choice of around 5 options, this is the only part we thought was a bit disappointing as many of the menu items enjoyed in the past had gone and what was left was not massively exciting, hopefully they will look at feedback and offer more golfer type options. The accommodation here is only second to when we stay at Close House GC, its lovely and very nicely done and close to a ten out of ten for this part. The signature course on the Sunday was as open as always and is somehow affected by the wind much more than the championship course. Do not expect an easy ride on this course as the greens were hard and fast so staying on them was very challenging. So overall this is a great place for a weekend of golf. I would say our only small only gripe was that there is a really good halfway house but because the guy doing it has to tour the course on a buggy selling drinks too, we found the halfway house closed at a time when we really needed hydration halfway round. So if you see the drinks buggy buy drinks as you cannot guarantee the halfway house will be open.Reviewer Rating

Mr B
Both courses are very good albeit when we played had standing water in places. We stayed for the weekend and a party of 4 , played both courses. However the hotel is not great. Quite unhelpful when booking out for golf and seem to be only there for the members. The food is ok but from 7pm the place emptied and you need to book a taxi to go out. We arrived back at 10:50pm with 4 others on the bar and quite abruptly told you can have one drink only as we are shutting the bar. The breakfast was ok so in all would definitely play the courses again but would not consider a weekend stay.Reviewer Rating

Green keepers spoil the day
HAVING BOOKED A TWO DAY STAY WE PLAYED THE SIGNATURE FIRST. ALL WENT WELL TO BEGIN WITH BUT HAVING STARTED THE SECOND NINE WE FOUND THAT THE GREEN KEEPERS HAD DRESSED THE GREENS. THIS DRESSING STUCK TO THE BALL AND MADE PUTTING VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE. WHATEVER THEY HAD USED WAS VERY STICKY AND DARK AND, WITH NO WATER IN THE BALL CLEANERS, MEANT THAT YOUR GOLFING TOWEL, GLOVES ETC WERE ALL COVERED IN THIS MUDDY CONCOCTION.THE PROFESSIONAL APOLOGISED AND GUARANTEED THAT THE SAME ISSUE WOULD NOT OCCUR ON OUR SECOND DAY BUT NEVERTHELESS SPOILT WHAT SHOILD HAVE BEEN A PLEASANT BREAK.
NOT REALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO SEND OUT GUESTS TO A COURSE THAT WAS NOT READY FOR USE.
